OOC:  Sorry sorry sorry!  Got interrupted the last few times I checked back.  Oh, and I meant Baker, don't know where harris came from...

IC:  This new arrival came as quite a surprise to Logmar.  A Son'a ship, though by the looks of it without a Son'a crew.

"Mr. Meyers, I want a complete scan of that ship."
"Aye, sir."  The Lieutenant rapidly moved his hands across the control panel.  "They seem to be formidably armed, though not exactly full on supplies.  Crew is varied, I believe this is some sort of mercenary ship."
"Very well, we'll see what information they plan to 'share' with us, and whether it's worth any price.  In the meantime: Mr. Barack, be prepared to charge weapons if i should give the order."  The ship's tactical officer gave a brief nod.

Sitting down in his chair, the Captain waited.

Meanwhile, a few decks below, one ensign carefully lifted the control panel and, pulling out a small device, went to work, listening for anyone nearby.

OOC: I let Triarii go first and then it's my turn again...

Oh, rereading the rules I noticed you said a ship around the heavycruiser class...

A Son'a battleship ranges more into the Capitol class ships...

Should I still use it or no?

OOC: The heavy cruiser thing was only a reccomendation. Besides, there's only one S'ona ship as opposed to two Federation ships, that's why I let you use something slightly larger...

IC: Henry didn't like the idea of giving these rouges anything that might help them put innocent lives in danger, but he thought he might as well at least listen to their request. After all, which was worse, having two groups of rouges out there, or just the one carrying a few Federation supplies?

"What kind of 'pay' did you have in mind?" Henry questioned.

That makes it sound like you are about to attack me Cheesy

IC:

Jakob looked at Tau're.
"Send them the list"
Turning back to the view screen he said:
"We are in need of torpedoes and anti-matter. But we would also accept any other kind of supplies and or technologies. If you would now excuse me, I shall try to find the information you want."
Tau're cut the line at Jakob's nod.

"Get me that Romulan now, and send her to my ready room."
"At once, Sir!"

Jakob moved to his ready room and once there, check through the most resont list of his ships supplies. Shortly after that, the doorbell rang.
"Come in."
In stepped a slender, attractive Romulan female, named Sena.
"You know why you are here?" "No, Sir." " I called you to do that, what I bought you for." Sena tensed. " Naa, sorry bad joke of mine. How is it going at your new job?"
Looking relieved, Sena answered: "Very well, sir. I would like to express my gratitude again."
"Okay, do so by telling me how you ended up at that Orion."
"There isn't much to it. I was an engineer upon an Romulan freighter, which was hauling Romulan Ale, when a pirate vessel attacked us. Then a conduct blew right next to my head and the next thing I remember, was being caged in the middle of a slave market. That is where your men then showed up."
"Anything you could tell me about that pirate?" " I heard the rumor of them being Cardassians, but it is not proven. I believe they have some sort of Outpost in an Asteroid, a few light years from the Shipyard where we refitted. But I can't make any promises, Sir."
"How do you know this?"
"Being a slave makes it easy to pick up information, but has its down sides to." Sena turned her head to show a series of scares on her neck.
"Hmm, thank you, you may return to your station."
After Sena left, Jakob called in Giulia.
"Did you look into the records?"
"Yes, there were sightings of an refitted Galor-class vessel, which had also been recently at Shipyard we refitted in for some system upgrades, but there is nothing on its crew or its origin."
"Okay, thank you. Let' see what our friends have been doing."
Returning to the bridge, Jakob called: "Hail them again."
Placing himself in the commandseat, Jakob looked upon the Bridge of the Starfleet vessel.
"We have some interesting information for you on a vessel quite similar to the one you search, but again, I am sorry to remind you that you will get nothing without you paying us first...."

OOC: Can you write up the contents of the lis you sent my ship, please?

IC: Henry frowned as the mercenary captain mentioned torpedoes and anti-matter. Surely he knew that the Federation didn't trade weapons... Hopefully they would be able to find something else of value aboard ship however...

"We're recieving a list of supplies, captain," Kevin reported. "I'll route them to the command chair..."

Henry tapped a few buttons on his control console and accessed the list. He considered what his ship could spare before replying..."

"You must be aware the Federation is not in the buisness of trading weapons," he began. "I can, however, start by offering you medical supplies..."

He didn't want to tip his hand to the mercenary captain too quickly, thus his opening bid had been quite modest. He was hoping to get the infomation without having to give away anything too valuable...

IC:  Logmar pondered.  This was something he did quite often, often enough, in fact, that his officers no longer showed any sign of irritation while waiting for his response.  Not that he was slow in a desperate situation, but he certainly was a ponderer.

"Open a channel to Captain Baker."

The soft beep of a channel opening could be heard.

"Captain, before negotiating with our mercenary friends, you might want to hear what information the Stardust picked up first.  There's quite alot there, so I'll directly transmit the computer data to your ship.  In summary, a Cardassian ship has been terrorizing various federation outposts for a while, but we believe this is simply part of a much larger, and more sinister objective.  The implications of them attacking the Romulan freighter may, I fear, further worsen our situation.  I suggest being...lenient in finding ways to obtain any information  this band of mercenaries might have, if it is at all valuable; it is curious they showed up so quickly after our arrival.  They also seemed to avoid detection until they were nearly on top of us, I wonder..."

OOC:

I don't know... machine parts, food, basic equipment.... oh and my conversation with Sena must have been really short for you to answer that fast... Cheesy

IC:

"You must be aware the Federation is not in the buisness of trading weapons," he began. "I can, however, start by offering you medical supplies..."

"Excuse me sir, we are geting something on one of the pirate channels." Tau're reported.
"Mute the connection to the Star fleet vessel and let's hear it."
"This is a message from the Ring. For all you mercanaries out there. If you are looking for work, you have just found it. If you are interessted, then contact us immediatly... We only have a limited amout of jobs."
"Hm... How convinient. Contact them... "
"Aye, Sir."
"You have reached the contact point of the Ring. How can we help you?"
"We got a transmisson that you would be offering work, which seems usual, you being a pirate orginization, but I'm out of work so what do I care."
"Hmm, yes. Transmit your coordinates, and I shall see what I have for you."

Turning to Tau're.
"Transmit them."

"Ah yes. We have been monitoring you for a while already. You've miss our ship scanning you, which is good. You are in the persence of 2 Federation ships. Your job is to follow them, and destroy them if they keep sniffing around. Confuse them a bit. They have bin stiring up to much for a while now. Damm does Cardassians, that they are so greedy that they can't keep a low profile."
"And my payment?"
"We will totaly resupply your ship and refund any damage caused, as soon as the Starfleet ships have left."
"Fine, we'll do it. Ghost out."

"Contact the Starfleet ships again."

Jakob waited for the viewscreen to come to life.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. A bit more than just medical supplies and you'll never find a better friend..."
Jakob said with a charming smile.

IC: "Captain Baker, might I also add that if no other alternative can be found, starfleet is willing to bend the rules on this one if it should lead to any vital aid regarding the situation."

Oh, nevermind... LOL

IC: Henry took another moment to think, quickly running again through the list he had been sent.

"We could also offer you a repliactor and 2 tons of construction grade duranium sheet metal..."

OOC:

Looking at more facts about my ship, I stumbled over the fact that it is a battlecruiser and not a battleship...

So it is not as heavyly armoured as a battleship but faster than one.

IC:

"We could also offer you a repliactor and 2 tons of construction grade duranium sheet metal..."

"Hmm, maybe you could also put in some primary phase coils. So in total that would be medical supplies, a rerplicator, 2 tons of duranium and some primary phase coils. If you agree to this then send the goods to the cargobay which my communications officer will destinate for you. You will recieve our information as soon as we have the goods."

Looking at Saran, Jakob said: "Send a security team down to that Cargobay. Make sure we only get what we wanted."

Saran nodded and gave the specified order.

Henry nodded. "That would be acceptable... We can provide you with three coils... I trust that's sufficent?"

Henry was pleased with how this was going so far. Nothing of extreme value was on the table and they were going to get the infomation they wanted in return for what were really rather elementary supplies... this was going well, and Henry even felt confident enough to drink the rest of his coffee as he continued to negotiate...

"Yes, that will suffice."

"End transmission."
"As soon as we have the equipment, send them the Galors' schematics and pick some random coordinates in the nearest unopcupied Asteroidbelt and send those as well, saying that there would be a base there..."
