Hello Everyone,

I just re-installed Armada II and went looking for patches and mods and found, to my delight, FO v3.0.

I love it and have been playing it like crazy. I would really like some help finding out where everyone else is playing each other and by what means.

I’m also a little confused. I can see there are 4 races to play, but I see other people’s posts about the Borg. Are they talking about the non-mod'd game or the future FO v3.0 with the playable Borg, that I can see on the home page?

Lastly when will the newer version be available for D/L?

Thank you and I look forward to playing online!

Hello Captain, and welcome!!

Yes the Borg are for V3.0, as for when it will be released, we're a bit clueless about that. The most reliable rumours suggest sometime between 2015 and 2017.

Just to clarify: what you are playing is the 3.0 preview release, and there will be so much more than just the Borg added for the full version.

I'm also pretty sure "between 2015 and 2017" is a joke, though it still will probably be some time.

Ah, ok and thanks.

Where are you guys playing each other online? I would like to join in. I used to be in an Armada II clan back in 2002 and I’m a pretty good player. I have been playing the V3.0 “preview” for two days now and have all my build orders already figured out.

I like the mod very much. I do think there are some game balancing issues that need looking into, but trust me, I’m not complaining. Seems like I’ve re-installed that game at the right time, hopefully since the “preview” is up and running the full version isn’t too far behind.

You could try posting a "game plan" in the gaming section and see who answers. Usually there are a couple people who will be one (right now, I unfortunately have too much to do  Sad )

Actually, by all means complain!  We have a healthy amount of criticism here and that helps make the game better (I think so at least)  Cheesy

About the full version being not too far behind.... hopefully you are correct, but one must be patient, if needed

Oh, I’m not complaining. I’m actually very happy. I was watching DS9 on Spike TV and the episode when the Dominion take DS9 away from the Federation but the Fed’s mine the wormhole, was on.

After the episode was over is when I went looking for my Armada II CD-ROM and it was quite dusty by the way. I wanted to have those big fleet battles that Armada II could give me. Finding this Mod and with the Dominion side to boot was perfect.

I think the Dominion is a bit weak though, especially verses the Federation, so I’ve been playing against 2 hard level Dominions to help make up the difference.

Mm yeah, the Dominion is 20 years ahead of the Federation in terms of technology yet it just seems way too weak in FO.

Not quite! Tongue

The Dominion ships were only superior before the federation could counter the Poleron technology. Now they are much like the Klingons, offensive oriented and per unit of mass, able to out-gun the federation.

I don't see the weakness with the dominion, I mean the Breen BB is the strongest Battleship, the V-13 is capable. The Defender is an amazing addition to any fleet! That beam burns.

The problem with the Dominion AI is...none of you have played against Baron. He whooped my bum bum. He's insane with the dominion.

But the thing about the Dominion, is unless they can get established, they are weaker than the other races. Much like Canon, their supply lines are weak. But if they can get established, with several moons and supply mining, they can indefinitely out-produce any one else.

I would like to know what race you were using and what tactics you were deploying. ie were you rushing?

It’s all about the build order, I still need to work on my Dominion builds.

I was Klingons, Duras avatar. I'm not that bad of a player either, you can ask Dominus, lol. But, I was using the B'rel and K'vort spam tactic, and it was working out well until we got to the point of buying supplies which totally drained my resources while his supplies were being provided by mining.

Yup; last time I played Rhaz I was royally squashed... it was a three way battle and although I had been duking it out with our third member I had quite the fleet... or at least I thought so  LOL . Then I was pounded into oblivion by a million kvorts and little ships.  ouch
