Hello everyone. I'm a long-time Trekkie and have been a fan of the Armada series since the beginning. I just reinstalled Armada II the other day, and remembered the abundance of fan mods. After some quick google work, I found this site. Hearing all the things that this mod adds to the game got me quite excited to try it out - sadly, it doesn't work.

Upon startup, the game crashes. I hit the FleetOps icon, a little Federation logo appears in the middle of my screen, and then an error box comes up saying that Armada II "needs to close" & etc...

I'm using the latest beta on Windows XP. I'm dying to see all this new stuff... can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance.

I couldn't find a list of required stuff anywhere, so I got the 3.0 installer, Patch 1, and the beta. I assumed that the multimedia thingy on the download page is something extra. Should I get that too?

There should only be three things recquired for installing the game... version 3.0PR, the multimedia patch, and the other patch. The multimedia I think fixes some errors too...

... so let me get this straight; you installed just those THREE things, and it still crashed?
I guess this has become a question for the developers then... sorry bud

I have four things installed:

-3.0 PR
-3.0 Patch 1
-the beta launcher
-multimedia patch

(that's the order of installation, too)

If it doesn't work, I understand. The software is still in development. I'll just hold out for the final product.

I have no clue what the beta launcher is... When I go to the page to download all I see is VPR, the patch, and multimedia...
Maybe this helps: In the past when I have installed the game the order I have used is to download 3.0PR... then run that... then download multimedia and run that... then download 3.0 patch 1 and run that. Unfortunately I have no idea what is going on here but maybe if you send a PM to Doca Cola he can help you (I'm not sure why he hasn't seen this thread yet).

I have no idea when the full FO will be released though... it could be next month... or next year... by any chance do you have access to another computer where you could test downloading and running FO, to make sure the problem is simply with the way it is being downloaded (rather than your machine)?

The beta launcher is from this thread. I grabbed it because it mentioned some bugfixes. Maybe the problem has something to do with me running XP and the beta launcher being mainly a fix for Vista compatibility.

In any case, tomorrow I'll take it all out and try it again in the order you suggest. I do have another computer available, and will test FO on it if the reinstall doesn't work on my main box.

the beta launcher is for those running Windows Vista, as a temporary measure to get them started. You dont need it if you dont have windows Vista.

delete all trace of the installation (not the d/l themselves lol)

and install in this order:

FO V3PR
FO V3PR Patch 1
FO multimedia PACK (unneeded for game but will give you music)

that should get you up and running.
