Heyho
In addition to normal research, subsystem upgrades and building up your fleet there is now a new possibility to spend your resources on!
Always hated it that a fleet of small units toasted your command base while you fought in a deep space war? Ever got rushed by nasty Klingons before you even got your yards ready? Then here is a solution for you!

You will be able to improve the offense and defense of your starbase in v3 with two upgrades. All races share the same upgrades to make it fair.

Improve the weapon systems of your starbase to deal increased ammounts of damage with every shot
Level 1:  +20 Offensive Value
Level 2:  +40 Offensive Value

Power up the defense of your starbase to make it less vulnerable to enemy fire
Level 1:  +40 Defensive Value
Level 2:  +80 Defensive Value

A Romulan Starbase with the upgrade option highlighted

Happy upgrading!

This is excellent.  Azn

What makes this really interesting is because it's just like the show, or should I say DS9. It started off with minimal defenses (because the Cardassians trashed the place before leaving), and had trouble fending off a few Galors. Then it was repaired so that it was a bit more worthy of a space station, and if I recall correctly it's weapons were again significantly upgraded not long before the Klingon fleet attacked it (or just after the Odyssey was destroyed?). Should be fun!

...and what's that third option I see after the upgrades

WOW. So, when u were saying like, offensive value up by twenty, then forty, is it stacking, or is that the net amount? Either way... i don't have words for my excitement... great job.

thats the final bonus amount, so each upgrade increases the attributes by 20 offensive, to a total of 40 on level2 Smiley

Awww shucks
I was hoping that each starbase might get some race specific special weapon... Borg: sends out nanites to ensnare nearby ships... Romulans: phase weapon..... rolleyes

That would be great, but I think that should be for a latter version.
