Nope, RPG's were invented during WWII and for proof... I use... TA DA!
Wikipedia; the answer to life itself! lol
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocket_propelled_grenade

Referring to that link, the German Panzerfaust was NOT an RPG, but a recoilless rifle. The Panzerschreck was, though...

The rifle make more cents when I think of the usage of the term RPG. Such as the insurgents opened up with RPGs it would make more cents in that state meant that they faired rifles than a hail of rockets.

I am well aware that we cannot trust Wikipedia for many things: most certainly not for controversial aspects of life (politics etc) ... but I was using the source as the butt of my joke.
Obviously ineffective....

...back to RPG's... I'm afraid you misunderstood what a recoiless rifle is Ewm. It is not actually a rifle that shoots bullets in this case, but grenades. It is in fact a lightweight form of weapon that allows the firing of a heavier projectile, which would be impractical with a recoiling weapon (i.e. artillery). They are NOT rocket propelled as Antagonist correctly stated (by the way sorry for the incorrect info... I just pulled it up too quickly and didn't bother reading much ), but they are designed for destroying enemy armour. The "insurgents" (not sure where that is supposed to be, but judging from past experience I will say you meant in Iraq and Afghanistan) are armed with the RPG 7 or variants of it. These are true rocket propelled grenade launchers. Nonetheless, "RPG's" were still invented in WWII.

Clouded in doubt, you are, young forum member. Not far the answer is. To Ewm must we look now... (everybody stares at Ewm intently until Yoda drops down from the ceiling unexpectdly).
