was something to for zoeken on armada2.filefront.com, and
I encountered this concerning tornado

firstly Textures change
two types
ice and Asteroide type (of course in FO style)

and now the idea:
this tornado moves of itself, and has a certain area where he is
(but that can change you yourself in the map editor)

but a tornado has sucks strength
if you ship come too near at the tornado,
you ship will be sucked by the tornado
but under meanwhile your ship are also damaged,
how dense how more damage
and if your ship are entirely sucked in the tornado,
then your ship are destroyed

do not forget that he can be strong and also weak can be
if the tornado weakly is it will be sucked also slower on and less damage
if the tornado strong is it will be sucked also powerful on and more damage

I would like this as a blackhole object.... or something like that. It would be pretty cool

Ordinarily, I would look upon such unrealistic phenomena with mixed disdain and disgust, however, for some reason, I think this one would be awesome.  It would give mapmakers a whole new tool to play with.  We may not have moving asteroid belts like in A1, so this may well be the closest thing we see.

Black holes... Well, I recently watched "The Pegasus Project" (SG1) and I have to say: THAT was a black hole!  cool
I could imagine to have the black holes back in FO, though I can't really remember them to have appeared in Star Trek.
Well, it would be nice and done by the FO-team it would look like a black hole and not like the.. whatever-it-was in A2.
I would like that much better than some kind of space-tornado. The idea of tornados in space is actually quite weird in my opinion...

For a nice shot of a real cool looking black hole please go here and scroll down. You can click on the image to enlarge it. I haven't put it here due to copyright.

Minor problem: black holes don't move.  That knocks out the best part of this thing.

You're right with that. But somehow I can't really get used to the thought of a space-tornado

Or maybe a suggestion:  why not alter the skin and rotate it so it looks like the wormhole of ST TMP?
(you know the wormhole that appeared after instable warp core!

It is a small suggestion.....

Its not actually a tornado (not in the sense of wind) as there is no atmosphere in space and as such you cannot have a tornado.

The pic is of the kind of storm that exists in the badlands as seen in DS9 and Voyager.

They're actually plasma storms (and this one looks a lot like the ones in the shows). Star Trek Wiki:

The Badlands is an area of space that appears or is referred to in episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

Located in the Alpha Quadrant, the Badlands is characterized by constant plasma storms and funnel clouds. The Maquis use it in several episodes as a meeting place or hiding ground because of its treacherous navigation. It is also known to have a few planets hidden within the clouds and nebulae.

That should help with ppl accepting the idea of a tornado like anomoly in space Smiley

Okay then. If this thingy would be part of some kind of Badlands-map as some kind of moving plasma-pillar: nice.

So maybe we could have a new nebula with these pillars in it. That's something I could really like  Cheesy

thanks for the information
then will change we the name just as: Plasma storm

(I had thought something that it an electric storm, but I think that this will exist also)

more information?
>>>
Quote
A plasma storm is a type of spatial disturbance that involves energetic particles in a state called plasma. Plasma storms are commonly found in places such as the Badlands. (DS9: "The Maquis, Part I", "For the Cause", "Blaze of Glory"; VOY: "Caretaker")

Plasma storms are relatively common occurrances. While trying to figure out what had happened to a group of officers who encountered a Type 2 plasma storm on their way back to Deep Space 9, Doctor Julian Bashir did a search in the medical files about such a phenomenon and found 5,021 entries. (DS9: "Things Past")

Professor Jennifer Sisko was working on a transpectral sensor array, a device that might be able to penetrate the plasma storms in an effort to find hidden Terran Rebellion bases in 2371 in the mirror universe. Sisko halted work on the device when she defected to the Rebellion after being pursuaded to do so by Commander Benjamin Sisko. (DS9: "Through the Looking Glass")

A plasma storm hits the Bajor system in Susan Wright's non-canon novel "The Tempest".

So, to recap, it is not only a desired game element, it is also completely canon.

Does anyone have any reason not to push for it's inclusion?

Aaah, those plasma storms remind me of Ezri Dax and her beauty. It's a pity she was off looking for lieutenant-commander boring. We could have made such a great couple. She's a foxy lady
