The Borg like to assimilate technology right? Maybe you could make it so if the Borg board an enemy science facility, they can research all the special weapons/support ship upgrades that station researches, so that any ships they assimilate have their special weapons.

I was originally going to suggest this for all races, but perhaps it could be a Borg exclusive; it would add a definite edge, but IMO not be too overpowering (because they still need to assimilate the ships).

Ryan is right about that.
Again: What use would a tachyon-detection-grid have for the Borg? If you remember VOY Endgame, they had far cooler stuff to detect Janeway in her cloaked shuttle.
You could find examples like that for nearly every special-ability other races in FO have. I still support the suggestion that the Borg get something special and totally new.

I support these thoughts, too.

The Borg are a race which have more knowledge assimilated about things no Fed would have ever expected for the next 20 years Smiley

So it would not be so false to give them something real special Cheesy

I think that from assimillating feds the borg could gain ability to send burst torpedos while spinning the cube. As seen in scorpion part 1 (ST VOY)

The Borg don't have usual mixed-tech in term that they get refits. they will get upgrades for their units, giving them resistances against alien technology cause once assimilated all Borg ships can be rapidly adapted.

One question though.... How will this be balanced so that the... ummmm... WE do not assimilate everything

Would the resisistences be percentage based off normal ships (in other words a resistence verse all ships) or just off specific special weapons and passive abilities? (This should be interesting in its ability to nullify certain enemy ship characteristics)

YES! Now that's the Borg. Pat on the back for whoever came up with that idea.

I don't understand... why did you bring up noxter? As far as I know (or do you have insider knowledge) the noxter are planned for after v3. Perhaps such mixed tech ideas will evolve further (or perhaps they follow the same route now and just get bioenhancements or something).

They become the new borg? Hola...
Ugly thought, though I've never seen a Noxter. Maybe the implants would make them look better... in some way.. Uhm..
Well, that's an interesting thought.
If I got it right, you need to capture a construction-ship if you want mixed-tech. How do the Noxter capture anything? If I recall that right, they weren't able to beam anywhere.
Looks like we'll get a third version of mixed-tech after the basic one and the Borg-variant.
