So, i've made a map... It's kinda a fan-boy Map

Please, down-load it, and maybe give me a comment or two... If you like to read people's droning's about "their thoughts on their creations," please, read on Tongue
Whether you read my ramblings or not, i seriously would appreciate any feed-back, even spur-of-the-moment thoughts.

I've tried to make a representation of the Alpha Quadrant, here, that would be... well, i guess i'm hoping to make something with a decently challenging lay-out.
There's a whole lot of semi-randomly asteroid belts tossed around, seperating all the power's from each other.
I was thinking that maybe i could try and simulate a Risk board-game; motivate people to expand and occupy territory - and take territory from other players - rather than bash away at each other with fleets... I did this by trying to shape asteroids into "provinces" and lane-ways, so each race will be able to mount very effective defences - forcing the attackers to take their assault one bit at a time.
I also hoped to encourage people spreading out from their main territory by spreading resources far and wide; put the Moon's in vulnerable spots.

The map is also as-symetrical, and - i hope - looks artificial rather than man-made... I dunno, i guess i'm a bit too a.nal retentive about RP    Not that it's an RP map, of course; but i just hope it give some kind of feel of realism rather than tournament play, maybe?

Each starting territory kinda has advantages, and disadvantages, that i'm hoping will work well against each other... Whoever plays in the spot i intended to be the Federation's territory will have some difficulties, early in the game... But with great perseverance comes (i hope) more than decent rewards Wink

Anyhow, hope this is good for whoever tries it out Smiley

Ah cool, thanks for showing that map.

But what do you mean by "couldn't select my local"?
I've never posted things for people to download before, so if there's something i should know, please tell me Smiley

How many of you remember that Next Generation episode, "The Defector" ?

At the end of the episode, the Enterprise has crossed into Romulan space to investigate a possible Romulan fleet build-up, only to have two Romulan War-Birds decloak and trap our Galaxy-Class heroes. The arrogant Romulan Admiral Tomalak gloated over his apparent victory, offering Picard one chance to surrender... only to witness three Klingon Bird's of Prey decloak behind his Warbirds.

Picard then observes that the Enterprise may not survive the following battle... but, niether shall the Romulans.

Well, this map is basically a "What If...?" where Admiral Tomalak pressed the attack, and sacrificed himself to launch the war he planned.

It's a 2 Player Map.
Fixed Placement should be enabled - Romulan Player take the North spot, Federation Player, the South.
You may want to turn the Ferengi off; there are four derelicts.
If you wish to view the Enterprise, the Klingons, and Tomalak duke it out, put the map on Shroud: Off, Fog: Off.

In four out of five tests, the Enterprise was destroyed; in five out-of-five tests, the Romulan Warbirds were also defeated.
Due to game limitations, these six ships (Enterprise, Warbirds, Bird's of Prey) will fire on any/all PC ships they see... So, the Role-Playing of the map won't be perfect, if the wrong ships survive long enough.

Downloaded and played, though I forgot to do something about the shroud and the fog. I'll do that next time.

Well, I have to say it's quite green which gives it a borgy touch. But it's surely a well done homage!
