For Vista users only. Fixes the "Checking Assets" issue and allowes you to play Armada 2 and Fleet Operations under Vista with multiplayer again.

This patch has been included in Star Trek Armada II Patch Project. Get it from here

Please tell me if that fix has worked for you.
You need to be registered in order to see and download that patch
DO NOT redistribute the file on another without prior authorisation, this fix is still under testing. Please download only from this thread

I do not use Vista myself, i was only able to check in a virtual machine.
The fix will be included in Fleet Operations 3.0 final and the upcoming Armada Patch project that will be hosted under the fleetops.net domain.

How to install:
  • Backup your NetworkManager.dll in your Armada 2 (or Fleet Operations) root directory
  • Copy the NetworkManager.dll from the archive to the Armada 2 (or Fleet Operations) root directory
Last Update: 11th June 2007

I have yet to test against any human players, but this fix for Vista works thus far.  I am so happy.  I have been looking for a fix since March.  Thanks for helping us Vista users out!

Do you mean it is up currently or that it will be up later today?  In either case, how would I find it.  I have never used that web site and looking at it is confusing.  Thanks!

So, a few guys and myself got together to create a LAN party for A2.  Well, I tried to host it and no one could see it and when someone else hosted it, it said they had a different version when I trtied to connect.  Short of the mod that updated a few sounds and sprites, there has been no other mods to all of our games.  They are the same versions.  They use Windows XP and I use Vista.  I applied the updated file and it allows me to play against computer players while in LAN and IP games, but that is all it seems.

I am not sure what else I can post to help.

People tell me, "Hey, if you get the NO CD EXE that the game will work without having to use the CD."  Thinking that it is a great idea, I get it.  Now, for the life of me, I can not find the CD.  [Insert sad music here]

I need to find an alternative.  I have the feeling I let someone barrow the CD after I installed the game on XP a while back.  The files got onto Vista via a transfer program that came with the computer.  I am not sure if asking if there is a way to take what is on my hard drive to make a new CD is some type of infringement or not.

problem is that using a no cd patch alters your crc.
so, everyone you play with has to use the *same* no cd patch or none at all

DOH!  I am never going to get my CD back, I can not remember who has it.  Know of any places that sells it somewhere near its MSRP?  Amazon and eBay have it at greatly inflated prices.

I discovered a Star Trek Action Pack for PC.  It includes both Armada games and two other ST sims.  It has an MSRP of $99.  I will look into both.  Thanks!
