yea, i like the idea of the euro to pay in every country (except uk Smiley) in europe with the same currency. what i don't like that some things got far more expensive here. in some shops i have the feeling they just replaced DM with € on the price tags while leaving the numbers.
1 euro = 2 deutsch mark  <- that makes it easy to increase prices

I don't know why, but somehow I cannot understand how a Star Trek fan can be "anti-european". Eufnoc, you disappoint me!

PS:

First: 1€ is about 70p.
And second: It's Sweden, not Swedon!

1€= 2,20271 gulden. I must admit i have already forgot about the gulden. But i dont care Smiley I am proud to be dutch but i fail to see why a currency should be a sign of that.

you know that the dm is german the pound is british and the frank is french and dutch it's the same as a flag you know where it comes from when you go to the euro you lose part of your hertiage and i know for one thing the british will never vote the euro in we are very proud of out heritage but then again who would not be how many empires ruled 75% of the world "the sun never sets on the english empire!"

You sound to me like... hm, like a Romulan. Your avatar fits your personality very well, indeed.

About the Euro: Just take a look at the reverse sides of the Euro coins. Every country has its own symbols on them. I like to collect coins from other Euro countries and it's interesting to see where tourists come from or where people go in the holidays just by looking at the change money you get in your local shops.

The Euros from Ireland have the harp on their back, just as the former Irish Pound, the German Euro has the eagle on the back, the smaller coins an oak leaf, just as the Mark and Pfennig had, etc, etc.

And I really think that the future lies in a united Europe and people like you are the reason why the progress is that slow. Look, if you liked Star Trek and if you understood the idea behind it, then you would never persist on a own currency just because of its "cultural heritage". That's really narrow-minded. Conservatism is a serious enemy of progress.

the thing is the uk is not even part of europe the only reason people think it is is because we are on the euro-asia plate england had a referendum voteing to join europe and 85% of brits said NO! we have never been part of europe and proberley never will adding another reason to why england should never join the euro!
