Like Doca, said, most games can't use more than core yet.

Besides, I've known the quad-cores were coming to the consumer line.  Won't stop me from getting a Intel Core 2 Dual for my next system.  

Servers already have 8 core cpus.  So in the next few years, expect those to come to the consumer line up as well.
