Fleet Operation Moons are infinite, so we don't need a recharger Smiley

Ok... but let's say that at one time the moods will be finite...  That isn't possible because they can't regenerate on their own and it would leave an empire high and dry, but I think I have a solution (if it even works).

A miner takes ore from a moon.  The moon has a subtraction in the ore and the miner has an addition.  Wouldn't it be possible to make a ship that, when it mines, causes an addition to the moon but doesn't have a subtraction on the ship?  You could have regeneration ships resupplying the moon, causing it to regrow.  The drawback of regeneration is, as you guessed, only one ship can regenerate or mine at one time (as in, you can regenerate and mine at the same time).

I know it is a bit foolish thinking of what if...  but is that an applicable solution, and would that give the modding staff more freedom with the moons (so that they aren't always infinite)?

well, it is a nice idear and i will think about it as an option for beta3 Smiley
the idea behind the infinite moons is, that we don't like strategy games where you can win by simply putting the enemy against a wall of turrets and let him spend his finite money and then crush him, or where you must expand like crazy.. every player should have the opportunity to win (and therefore mine resources) at every point of the game and not let a player sit on his last and empty moon Smiley

One thing that I see in Warcraft 3 games is 4 players playing on an 8 player map all with the intent of dominating the map and getting more mines than the enemy.  The idea is so that when the enemy's mines collapse that they can't move on to get more mines.  For those players, they might not like the idea of infinite moons too much, but however I think recharging a moon is a viable alternative.  Besides, infinite moons is always an option...

Now it would be neat if there was neutral AI ships that attacked anything that got close to neutral moons...  might make the game a bit more interesting...  besides, capturing ships would be neat and you could capture AI ships that haven't made it into the normal techtree yet...  good idea?

in beta3 there will be np races (non player races) which will have their base in neutral expansions Smiley so you can expect some resistence from them being terminated Cheesy

some npc races have construction ships, and you can assimilate or board some of the npc races (like breen, orion pirates and so on), other races have no crew in humanoid form so you cannot board them (species 8472, tholarians and so on)

you will also find the ability to hire merceneries similar to warcraft.. but let's wait for beta 3 else i have no more features to impress you Tongue

in original armada2 the problem was solved by TRADING a very realistic solution perhaps it could be added again (without self trading)
