As the title says this is for general newbish stuff you may need help with or for veterans who are a little absent minded lol.

Adding an Avatar:
First click on "my controls", and scroll down (if you need to) to "edit avatar settings".
Click "go" next to the base gallery scroll down box to proceed to the ready uploaded avatars.
OR enter the URL to the image you want. Note you may have to type the URL to the image directly not just the page it is on. easy way to do this is to right click the image and select properties: you will see its exact address in the little popup box. just copy/paste that into the url box on the control panel.
OR click "browse" to search your computer for the image you want.

regardless which way you go when your happy with your choice, click "update avatar". you've just set you avatar.

If you get an error message it is most likely that the image you have selected is too large: make sure it is no larger than 80 pixel x 80 pixel (visual size) and no larger than 20kb (file size). If it IS within these parameters then contact Doca or Optec for help.

Adding a Sig:
first click on "my controls", and scroll down (if you need to) to "edit signature".
In the box at the bottom you can either directly type or copy/paste text.
OR for an image you need to make sure that the image is hosted,(i.e. somewhere else on the web) somewhere like photobucket or imageshack for example. type or copy/paste the exact address into the box and imake sure it has this:
Quote
on either side of the address of said image. once done click "update my signature" and your done. word of warning: to avoid being moderated, check the forum rules BEFORE adding a signature.

If there is anything else just add you question here, especially if it is a question that you believe can be answered by a single reply, so to save making an entirely new thread about it. remember "if in doubt ask"  Smiley

How do i add a member title?

Your status (Newbie, Full Member etc.) depends on the number of your posts.
You may enter a custom title in addition to your status. This option should be available in your profile settings. But as I wasn't able to find it for a longer time, I suppose it might at first be available after a certain number of posts.
The option to enter a custom text, which will appear beneath your avatar, is available from the beginning.

But my question is:
Why is ewm green while everyone else is blue in the list of members who are online? Is there a special reason?

oh and on quick reply (one of those features I think they hide >_>
Go to your profile (which can be accessed via the Profile). From there go to the Look and Layout Preferences. Once on this screen you will see "Use Quick Reply On Topic Display" and select the Show, On by Default. Than simply save your settings. This will allow access to the quick reply option for the forum.

edit: that's what I get for copy pasting from a FAQ

Every time I try to download Fleet Operations 3.0 PR or the patch or the Multimedia patch this screen pops up (See attachment).  As you can see the program is in the URL bar but I'm not given the option to save it.  Can somebody give me a suggestion of what to do, because I feel really stupid for not being able to download something that has pretty much been laid out via proverbial silver platter... Thanks

if you have a fileplanet account go here: http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.aspx?/hst/t/r/trickste/armada2/FOSetup3PR.zip

if not: http://www.trek-online.com/downloads/FleetOps/FOSetup3PR.rar you may get the same error i got for that, but maybe not. the mirrors need a bit of an update, as many sites have changed location and what not, just stay calm for now

Ryan, I don't think the .rar works either as I get the "forbidden access" statement

Despite the fact that the host has dissappeared, I must admit I'm kind of relieved.  At least this way I know it wasn't me...

And thank you Capt. Ryan, I do happen to have a fileplanet account.  I'll just cross my fingers in anticipation of the patch and multimedia pack.  Thanks everyone!
