You have to join a clan not beeing added by someone else (indeed, you need alowance of becoming a member), but noone will do that for you. Participating in a clan also means a minimum of activity. Activity means visiting clan forums, trainings, take part in leagues (playing vs other clans etc.) . It's fun...so don't be afraid. B!G isn't that strict I think.
well, jan don't worry i've been leading the clan(with alot of help of course) for 2 years, exactly becuse of what you said, we have "Clan Treinees" that are on a probation period for 1 month, after that we decide if they are good enough to play in battles, we don't kick them if they are not good, we just don't ask them to play battles, and they don't get promoted, trainings on the other hand....missing 3 trainings in a row will get you kicked out yes, but you just have to make up a good excuse to get out of those Wink . Visiting the forums is not a necessity but it is highly recomended, since that's where the training dates are posted  Wink . This approach allows us to add random people into the clan, regardless of where they have learned about it or how good they are. We believe that clans are for everybody.......besides it's not about winning, it's about playing.

Yeah that's right hypercube. It's always problematic to handle new members. They don't know what it means to be part of a clan when they are completely new in the szene. Clans just exists out of activity of their members. Without active members you can shut it down or open new Squads (other (new) games) and hope that more ppl bring life back into it. Usage of the clan forums is essential and at sTw-Clan a "have to" just to have a look once a week. Important informations could have been posted. Inst. messenger is the second "have to" ( In germany ICQ is standard).
The third thing what we desided over the last months of experience that Teamspeak is also a "have to". But that doesn't mean a lack of fun, indeed not.  It's much more fun to talk to your friends instead of writing in a chat.
Some ppl also think that it cause costs if they use Teamspeak which is nonsense. Headsets (microphone and speakers in one) are cheap these days and Teamspeak Client is free downloadable. The difficult part then is to explain ppl how it works. But we made the exprerience that it's quite good if an older clan member explain it to the new one. So he feels not left alone and is integrated better into the group. That's why ICQ is very usefull , too. Finally it depends on how much fun a game is. Then all works alone generally.
I don't want to deny that there are clans outside where rules are much more looser or non existent. Some specificly have no rules and all works fine. People use forums, teamspeak while playing and for just talking about stuff, inst. messenger etc. and it's ok. This is the best thing what can happen to you. But these groups are rl friends most of the time.

well....teamspeak is not a must in B!G, since it's an international clan and some people don't speak english all that well, messenger is also not important, but what we do insist is, that all members have and use Xfire.
