i am currently working on an update for the fleet operations launcher making it a bit better and more slick to use.
what i cut out from the new launcher is the option for selecting a defined splash screen instead a random one (i hope nobody is missing that important feature Smiley).
now i am thinking about the gamespy option. has everyone ever used it. i think i haven't looked into it since beta 1.0 and i don't even know if it is working anymore. the main reason for this feature was that the external gamespy client (not the one integrated into armada) could not detect fleet operations probably. so you had the option to use this setting to let the launcher tells the path to fleet operations to the gamespy client.

for everyone who hasn't a clue what i am talking about, i am referring to this option page:

personally i only made rarely use of that feature cause i only once or two time i have had the gamespy client installed anyway, the integrated one does it's job for me. but whats with you?

Gamespy Arcade is a nice tool that is very useful. The only thing is... it's pumped up with adds...I hate adds...but it makes it cost nothing for me so it's ok. Nevertheless very much ppl use it...could help finding new players for FO  Wink
Do it...

@Black...shame on you...manual IP...tdzdzdzd   Wink

Use lobby for V3 so that many ppl can play with each other.

problem with this gamespy lobby mode is as far i remember that many people playing fleet operations have problems joining each other games. (atleast that is what i have heard). i can't test it much too as i have problems in general joining the gamespy network either the integrated client and the external gamespy tool..

The reason I dont use gamespy anymore is because always when I created a game incompatable people massed in :S So I had to kick them, or set up a password. Its far easier to just use IP lol Tongue

Though I agree, the feature should be kept anyway Smiley

yea, the mod handling with armada online games is just bad cause non-existant. there isn't even a sepearate channel, nor are the ppl from gamespy responding to such requests.

LOL DOCa! Now you feel the HARD way I did last month when I waited for your requests in ICQ!   ;P

The only problem was online that if one person had a game crash after a while all others crashed, too. But that just happened when someone played Noxter.

Generally if ppl play via ingame lobby you can't connect to different versions. Those games are marked yellow.
But via GS Arcade ppl are also able to join games with different versions ( which causes "incompatible" players Black mentioned)

As I don't use Arcade that much I dunno how to set the tool to connect with FO instead of original A2. Friends of mine do know how...I'm going to ask them.

IF Gamespy will ever request a seperate FO channel should be established instead of rooms like Cadette, Captain, Admiral...they are used not that much. Most ppl are in main Lobby. They should rename or add a room. Maybe ChessMess or someone from STGU can help you to contact GS Staff.

hehe, nope. they are very friendly people. we talked about a next armada 2 patch with more features about modding. they tried to help us with solutions for our ideas that are just not possible. also with (really customized) single player missions but it seems they are afraid it's too complex and could lead to vulnarabilities with armada 2 as with those mission binaries you could basicly run every type of code in theory. but thats a long time ago and we achieved this or that feature we requested back then but not the single player missions (to the extent we wanted).
