Can anyone tell me, if the the textures can be stripped in any way (reducing colors or similar)...

I want to make more maps, big maps, but too much objects quickly slow down the game (especially since there's no ship limit), but it's not fun anymore, when the game runs slowly...

To some extent i've already tried to reduce the number of colors in textures, but it freezes the game.

Does anyone have any info on the subject?

Thanx!

You can't change the number of colours, it has to be 24-bit or 32-bit. Reduce the size of them, pixel-wise. If you change the resolution from 256 x 256 to 128 x 128, you use 1/4 of the resources....
