Yes, but if I get mad at you for saying something like that, I can simply zap you out of existance.

I know what I wouldn't do.
I would not let myself be transferred to a research outpost or ship testing out experimental groundbreaking technology. If I don't get killed by a mysterious accident there, I'd be killed by the next megalomaniac villain that comes along.
I will not accept the position of captain on a secondary starfleet ship. Those are never lucky.
I will not accept the position of helmsman, nav officer, etc. on the Flagship. I don't like consoles blowing up in my face, thank you.
Colonies on the edge of Federation space are right out.
If my ship is due to meet with the Enterprise in a few hours, I'll stay VERY close to escape pods. Chances are they'll be finding the crew mysteriously vanished, turned into sticky green goo by an unknown disease or abducted by Romulans.
I will watch large battles preferrably from a LARGE distance, or maybe the civilian areas of the Enterprise. Anywhere else is unsafe.
I will not feed Tribbles. Ever.

Some people are pragmatists, taking things as they come and making the best of the choices available. Some people are idealists, standing for principle and refusing to compromise. And some people just act on any whim that enters their heads. I pragmatically turn my whims into principles.
