I think we just need some better sort of Warship.
If you notice the Warp In ships, they are all older designs.
The Steamrunner, Galaxy and Nebula.
All newer ships (I believe the Prometheus would be included here)
Are built at Ship Yards, rather then requisitioned and diverted from other duties.
I also find it weird how the Galaxy and Nebula have same crew requirements? <,<.
But thats off topic.

the prototype has a registry number in the '52s, placing the commisioning date as 2345.  I don't like it either, but its accepted cannon.

Also, one problem with the Ares design: its intended to be about 120 meters if I remember right.

i tend to believe that they were built just after Wolf 359, since you dont actually see any wreckage of them.

im sure they had somthing simmilar to it's in the TMP era. could be possible because in the enterprise era, you saw ships that had the begiinings of that disign.

although that dosn't actuarly count for anything as ent was shot after the lot of them

nope they didnt the Steamrunner is one of the most unique starship designs for the federation in a very long time if not ever

sure the defiant was original but it was based on a runabout the steamrunner however was a completely new design

the steamrunner is nice but it looks a little flimsy.  it has no hieght but looks very ood from top.  i dont think it should be warp in because of what rhaz said.  i do however think they should be included in a yard.  after all the romulans have an equilalent
