I had been trying with Suse 9.3 and Cedega...I managed to install it but it keeps asking to put cd in drive which is in of course. But I managed to play pure Armada 2 with no cd crack and it worked good. I'll try to play V3 when comes out on Suse 10.0

what advantages do you get from running it on linux? seems to me that its just too much trouble for very little reward.

actually, the reward isn't little at all, getting a windows game to work under *nix further supports the *nix community, besides the fact of being able to play the darned thing.

i meant what actual advantages (gamewise) you get from playing it on linux, apart from spending half your life and all of your hair on trying to get it to work in the first place.

4, theres some sites that could've walked you through your network settings step by step for fedora, but if you want something nice and easy, maybe try ubuntu

ryan, games have been known to sometimes run better on *nix than on win. besides the point, i'm not in it for benefits. i use *nix, hence why i need it to run under *nix, end of file.

FO doesnt run under cedega because of the runtime hack that it uses.  A2, however, runs fine- or about as fine as you would expect it to run on an emulator.

I made once some trick with FO. I Installed it in Windows, copied that install to linux and ran (i think i started armada2.tgf file...) it through Cedega (The best choise for playing windows games) and it came to menu when same no cd problem appeared.

Oh and lot of you are debating what to use Xp or GNU\Linux. Well this isn't the topic right? Cheesy

lol yeah i coulda used the tutorials but when i finally decided to do it again the second time i had no patience

cause when i first tried around 8months ago i had a USB modem and i dont need to tell you how queer it was to try and install using BASH and uploading the firmware which plain didnt work

so i got frustrated now im trying to decide on a good distro something thats aimed at someone whos gonna work with it not just browse and play games i need serious office stuff

cause XP i have 2003 office with visio and stuff and i use it alot if i can find a good sub on Nix then i will switch

I'd try but my laptop that runs linux can barely take Diablo I...It'd set my house aflame if I tried to play fleet ops on it LOL
