Right i was in the bath and i was getting hot, so i reached over and got a glass, filled it with water, just about to drink it and the glass exploded, not only did some go in my mouth but it all went in the bath, i had to spit the glass out into the bath and get out quick, the glass broke in to loads of pieces for no reason, nothing else that was glass broke (including an idenitcal glass that has the tbrushes in) i was bearly gripping the glass so does anyone know why a glass would do that?

Temperature, you were in hot water, obviously it was on your hand, when it conducted to the glass and you filled the glass with cold water it expanded rapidly and exploded, happens to me when I forget to let hot glasses cool before washing them glad your ok Smiley Just remember to let a glass cool down to room temperature before you fill it.

it's possible your body temperature wasn't as high last time...anyway, that seems the most logical answer, your body conducted heat to the glass which, when filled with cold water, exploded.

that sort of reaction isn't usually that violent, usually you hear of them cracking. But exploded very rare i must say.

Cold tap water gets colder when the outside temperature is lower, too.

Another reason for a greater temperature difference this time.

I'm going with the temprature answer. Glass does that when there is a sudden and big change. I heard a story from my perants once of them seeing a guy throwing a kettlefull of boiling water onto a frozen windsheild and that shattered instantly. I think its somthing to do with the temprature making the glass want to bend, but it can't to it shatters.

So yeah, anything other than glass and you should be fine.

what i am saying...

i am not saying the timpacher thing is rong. i am tring to exsplane why it sudanly hapined now and not befor.

when glass has ben put under stress it all was gets damged evin if you dont see it. you may put glass under meny stress fule conditon withh no vishal ill efects than sudainly it shaters.

I wasnt disagreeing with you Ewm, in fact i agree with you. Its wierd for it to suddenly shatter lke that, and it is likely stress played a big part in it.
