yeah i think it was unanimously decided (by Doca & Optec anyway Tongue ) that warp speed function is never gonna be implemented into Fleet ops, mainly for gameplay reasons, but also for other Trek fact reasons as well.

i suppose with a little modding you could put warp in yourself, although i have no idea how (& i have been trying). it is a little frustrating not being able to launch a counterattack at anything above a snails pace, unless of course your already in a position to attack. Perhaps warp speed could be made a special ability for certain classes.

I feel with you warp! Iīm on the original for 3 years now and i find/found the warp in the A2 very cool. But on the other hand warp restricts many tactical abilities. For a better gameplay impulse speed is the best solution. And have a look where the Devs come from: Armada 1 . So its quiet clear that FO is closer to A1 than to A2.  But that makes the game not less interesting.  Smiley

if people want warp in FO why not just put it as a clickable special weapon on all ships and it uses no special energy, if thats even possible?

No, I think only the borg should have warp but maybe not as fast as it was in A2.

The borg? they don't even have warp, they have transwarp. I hate not having warp, mabey it should be slower, or even a short burst function, without warp your crews die of old age before they get to the enemy base. I understand that the federation follows "no warp in system" rule, but not all the other races care about the subspace damage warp does to these systems. I just hate how slow it goes...warp as a special weapon on ships would be good, even more so for the slow ships.

My suggestion if this is too much is just reactivate the option for warp and no warp in the game. That way people who want warp aren't limited and the people who don't can turn it off or on at their leisure.

hmmm...if warp would suck special weapon energy...interesting thought...

then a player think twice before warping into the enemies base...you wouldnīt be able to use your special weapons cos of low energy...thatīd give a disadvantage.

Warp that uses special energy is an interesting idea as it would add to strategy. But I dont know if that is doable.

So thumbs up from me on this idea

think it is if you put an energy cost & button in for it, but still think it should only be on select classes of ships Smiley .

Like what classes?
If you want it like that I would put warp only on the big vessles like battleships and cruisers and really slow impulse speed plus really bad maneuring. And the little ships would have fast impulse and also be very manurable.
That could work too Smiley

thats the thing though if you do that, you'll have the problem of people complaining about how slow and unmaneuverable the sovie is, or whatever.

the sovie for example: is one of the fastest ships in the fed fleet. has the maneuverablity of a ship 1/4 of its size.

and i'm sure someone out there will find another reason to moan . but i like that, way of implementing it. i was gonna say to put it on science & repair vessels, at level 2 or 3 Smiley .

you could give all federation vessels warp but it drains ALL special energy or 1/2

that way they loose special weapons or

make it so that it takes a portion of energy but the energy doesnt recharge i had a similar idea with photons

basically you have to create supply bases that replenish energy and you can make it important to have convous carrying the energy to bases on far deep space out posts

when the energy ran out they would run out of photons or in this case Anti Matter? or deuterium which ever you prefer
