Additionally, they also claimed quite a few effects are sprites so it is doable. Additionally, how were they able to show it off it wasn't possible?

huh who said it wasn't possible???

@admiral ryan, take into account this is built on the armada engine, & how many units will be on screen at any one time.

min system requirements for stock armada 2 are:

64mb ram
P II   300mhz

fill in the gaps for the min specs for that mod: (my prediction in brackets)

Ram = Huh??   (256mb min)
processor = Huh?? (P4  1Ghz min)

based on my predictions, i'd say thats more than a big jump

3 - 4 times the jump. Still, there has been some time since the release of Armada 2 and this mod, so, I guess their presumption was that people will have upgraded...

your min prodictions are about right I would say. There are ways to reduce the lag cauised by an object like making it low poly yet high quality. Then all you have to worry about is the resolution of the textures which is what can put up the system requirements. Though if they are clever with there modding they can m,ake the effect of that less.

There are all sorts of ways to make a good looking ship, but maybe that's for another thread, another day.

Anyway, I don't think it will kill anyone's system. Chances are the first release will be in German, so I hope you all are brushing up on that Smiley
