oh, i'd pick the destroyer, because the borg might wait till all the big ships are gone before attacking the little helpless destroyers
or they might think the destroyer is no threat and let us go home with all our presents intact LOL

No kidding. Besides, if I remember properly the Defiant was one of the last ships standing fighting that cube in First Contact. It was dodging lots of those tractor beam things, something that a larger ship most definitely cannot do. Between getting missed a lot and all that lovely ablative armor, it seems like a very nice place to be in the middle of a fleet engagement.

The excelsior is definitely the standard fleet cruiser unit, many more available to starfleet than the akiras, which are heavy assault cruisers anyway with that ridiculous torpedo loadout. Besides, excelsiors have gotten MUCH more screen time than akiras  LOL

Heh, Excelsiors have had more screen time then any ship but the Consitution, Intrepid, Defiant, Galaxy, Sovern, and maybe the Miranda. Considering there was never a show or movie dedicated directly to an Excelsior, thats a good record.

Besides, it is a sick design... and in the Star Trek universe, that sick design made the ship last for 80 years..

Yeah, Star Trek: Generations briefly had the Excelsior class subtype. I dun like the E-B subtype though.. it looks fat.. the NCC-2000 type looks very thin and.....u no.....sexy... cool
