not sure of the largest size, but if you do a quick "search", you'll find the average size map 6400x8000 quoted from Eufnoc(Nieknight) from an earlier topic. so really just go from their, unless someone has an exact figure.

i know the ingame ones go to 18000, the large 8player ones. i can design ones at 60000 but the game crashes when i engage the enemy units.

512mb ddr, and another 128 on my video card and my system is based on dual p4 CPUs, 2.4gh ----  edit oh, unless i play 3 on 1, lategame gets a bit laggy, but not to bad.

heh i remember making a map 100,000 squared, but it this way i got board due to the fatc it really and i mean really showed you how big space was, if fo had warp then this map would of took them about a min from cornor to cornor...

on big maps wormholes are a must though if you like long games big maps are quite nice too unless you have wormholes or not

I only play big maps where Warp is possible.. I like Medium and small sized maps.. its very cozy.. with the enemy nearby..

i found that using FOs version of armada i can go to 45000x45000 without any problems. but i cant run them over 32000x32000 on normal armada for some reason.

We did some changes to the ODF structure and the loading hirarchy to improve performance already in beta2. Although these changes where quite minor it could affect how maps are processed.. maybe we accidently fixed that crash bug

i'd like to try to make a large map for myself but don't know how to change the map size
Would apreciate any help
(sorry if this is a dumb question, but i've searched the forum and can't actualy find any instructions, i edit existing maps when creating my own)
