I just got some ideas on hero ships, don't know how applyable some of these are so bear with me.

1st idea. there are 2 or 4 hero ships that can be built (with different voice overs) and you can only build one of each, and they will cost like 2 credits each or something. now there are two kinds of heros; you have tacticians, and warriors. Tacticians have passive AOE effects that boost the performance of several ship systems in the surrounding ships, but the tacticians ship is inferior to the warriors ship. the warrior has a more powerful ship and several "debuffs" that affect a large enemy force for an extended amount of time, now each ability will have a long recharge rate, but there will be two per hero or something, but they are all different, even the AOE passive tactician ones.

2nd idea. there are various hero shuttles that can be "absorbed" into either a specific ship or any large vessel (battle ship, dread or something), and has the same attributes that have been listed for the 1st idea.

so what your honest opinion?

I think he means AOE = Area of effect - meaning that this weapon or ability does not work on a slected target but on a certain region

anyway, some very interesting indeas to consider, maybe for v4  cheesy

didn't think AOE was that confusing. ok AOE = Area of effect

ok, check this out

you have a new station called um... command academy, or something.
And you can build 4 ships, or shuttles if that works.

1st is captain Sisko, the ship is defiant class (or any heavy warship), he is a tactician, his passive AOE would be: improves torpedo dodge for all ships by 20%, x2 vs dominion ships, and improves shield recharge rate 20%, and weapon hit percentages 25%, vs Dominion ships 60%!  Just an example, not exactly what the stats should be.

2nd is captain Jellico, ship excelsior 2 (or ships of similar size), warrior, his debuffs are Tachyon pulse, prevents ships from cloaking and or forces them to decloak, 60 sec, 25 special energy. Horror of Battle, reduces enemy weapons fire 40%, damages enemy shields 50%, and blinds enemy sensors 70%, and stops enemy ships dead in there tracks, 45 sec., special energy 100. Once again just an example

Heros are almost never implemented well, and they're a pain in the butt to keep track of in battle and keep from dying (like all those single player missions in A2, what a pain)

what about a hero selection button in the quick menu and a hero marker so you can tell them apart from normal ships, would that help, or a quick button per hero or something?
and it's not like you really lose’em when there ship explodes, you can always make more, but only one of each hero at a time.

--- edit
i feel everyone has a valid opinion, even if i don't agree with it. however, what if there was like an extra techtree or an option that allows you to disable hero ships in a match. so even if you don't like heros, people still have the option to have them.

Because no ship is going to be super powerful just from a more experianced crew. This isn't suppose to be a show, and I don't want super ships flying around that should be the same class as others.
