I usually have about 4 fleets by my end game phase., and i usually play 2 vs 1 against me, or 1vs 1 vs 1, (fun when you play fed vs kling vs rom)
usually i fortify my choke points with defenses, and later reinforcing them with various ships. then when that is done i start small raids on the enemy base to keep him off balance, and using a few long range ships with an intrepid is good for me in this role.
next i build my first fleet usually a have 2 of those big super dreads form the SFC complex (forgot the name) and a galaxy and two nebula class, then i add about 4 excelsior II class ships, and 2 defiants, then about 3 akiras, and 2 intrepids. and then i use the smaller raiders to draw out smaller enemy units (light battle groups), then nail those with 1st fleet.
then i build my 2nd fleet, usually about 8 defiants, and 4 excelsiors, and when both fleets are done i have them take outer defensive positions near both opponents territory, then i build up forward spacedocks with full defenses, and ship yards (cept the SFC), and build 2 more groups depending on the usual aggressors, then those new groups defend my territory against one opponent while i increase raids on the other, then when they have been softened up i wipe them off the map, and then i reposition most of my force to the other opponent, but leave one behind incase i missed some ships, then repeat the plan on the other race, with an upped time frame, and more aggressive attacks.
and I hate getting people killed. so in a 2 vs 1 game, i usually kill like 1400 ships and like 12 of mine are destroyed (mainly by base defenses)

too defensive for me. If You would be playing against decent player You would last for about 10 minutes... The only real strategy for Feds is using wave after wave of nebulas or galaxys while builinf real inwasion forces in back... Just my opinion...

They will.... unless you have a wall of turrets. Needless, to say, I usually own the Feds.
