Lol that cannon is the EARLY version of a phaser, and since we have phasers, why would we need that?

how can a phaser be fired at light speed? it is basicly concentrated light, and if you going faster than light won't that just cut through you?

That's exactle what I said (and also Rick Sternbach and Michael Okuda, who were Technical Consultants for TNG and designed many things we saw on screen).

Photon Torpedoes can be used at sub-light and warp speeds, phasers and other beam weapons cannot. There are episodes who messed around with this, but that's how it should be.

I might understand that they eventualy found a way to fire a phaser at warp, **** they managed to travel faster than light wich by the methods they use in the show are imposible as far as we are conserned. BUT, I COULD NOT SEE IT HAPPENING IN ENT! These "phase canons" are reletevly new then and arent even close to being as powerfull as the phasers they use later on in the other series.
