I am growing less fond of resource gatherers - the mining stations and such.  They seem to involve highly repetitive work without much strategy.  It also doesn't seem very Star Trek-esque.  I do like rewarding a player for area explored and secured and playing up the strategic element of guarding vs. attacking.  What would people (theoretically) think about just mining sattelites, and getting rid of everything else?

hm, i think its fiting to the startrek universe to have mining beams.. yust think of what has been done with the tractor beam during TNG Smiley they can collect everything Cheesy

I think its more fun to have variety.. well play the ciadan, they will have Dysons spheres arround moons to collect resources, or play the iconians, who dont have any resources at all..
okok, you cant play them in the current beta, I'm back to work now Cheesy

I don't mind the orbting base (one operational move), I am just getting annoyed at the repetive work it takes for all of the mining ships.

hm, ist it that much work to asign a few freighters to the moons? otherwise you would have nothing to do but watch your construction ship building a mining station or whatever Smiley

(btw: i voted with a nullvote to see who the worst modder is Cheesy )

Nope, the board doesn't allow it, i could do it by altering the database, but thats to complex just for a vote and also this is a good thing so no baaad admin could manipulate a vote Smiley
