yeah ok the dome was a bad idea, the mill stadium, the eye and the dome did make money even if it was sh*te, people come all over the world to see it (or they did when it was open) and yeah we can manage it, you seem to forget all the good things that we did and focus on the negative.

name the good things, the trains never run on time, theres not nearly enough buses, the congestion charge (if it hasn't been scraped) im sure will have been extended to most if not all of the venues where the games will be held. and don't forget that there is a lot of building work to be done, if the wembley project is anything to go by you can expect this to be behind schedule and over budget, not to mention london's small space, i can imagine this is only going to add to the difficulty of the so called "regeneration" work.

BTW what millenium stadium, if its what i think your talking about, that would be in Cardiff, WALES

true about the french but why do i get the feeling that Chirac said those things about British and swiss cuisine on purpose? baring in mind the swiss representative still had a key vote to make.

You know, I think Chirac may have indeed made the cuisine comment on purpose. I mean, it's a big national pride thing to host the Olympics, but what a ridiculous waste of money. France (and Britain for that matter) are practially bankrupt, and neither can afford the estimated $4 billion this whole boondoggle is going to cost. Chirac knew it, and threw the game, as it were.

I said "practically" and to be fair the French are a lot more bankrupt than the UK  Wink I just get a kick out of certain people on my side of the pond who insist that the US is running out of money when we're still sustaining a nearly 4% annual economic growth, which makes all the "old europe" powers look pretty sad in comparison
