pull out your dusty A2 disk, get the V3pr again if you need to, and try out some of the new maps.  Many of them have ice fields.

Hmmm, they aren't all in dl maps.  Many of the maps that come with the mod have them as well.

Yup.  The FO team spent a good amount of time on 'em.

Second FO map released to the masses:

The Expanse - 2 Players (Not compatible with V3PR)

The Eridaus Nebula, situated on the Klingon/Cardassian border, has always been known as a hazadous area. During the Dominion war however, it became a vital objective, a safe haven where entire fleets could wait in total secrecy before striking out at their enemies seemingly out of nowhere.

This is a map for true Veterans who want a long, hard game full of strategy. As you can see, each base only has Dilithium, with all the Tritanium in the centre of the nebula, meaning you'll need to send out freighters to mine the resource. However, your enemy will be doing the same thing, so be sure to guard your convoys with ships.

Your given a few Bajoran ships to get you started, but these won't be enough for total dominance. You need to be quick, smart, and good at strategy in order to beat the first challange; building up a force big enough to smash your foe's base...

...then there's the second; trying to mop up any remaining enemy ships hiding in that nebula:lol:...

Once again, Enjoy...

this map keeps crashing when ever i load it

After a long Hiatus, a new map:

Ikolis: The Da'Ka Corridor - 4 Players

The Ikolis expanse is one of the most trecherous areas in the Beta Quadrant. Running along the border between the Federation and Klingon Empire, it is an area usually avoided by travellers, resulting in a two week trip. To those willing to take the risks however, the Ikolis expanse provides an almost direct path from the central Federation Colonies to their Klingon counterparts that can be travelled in a little under two days. Several have tried to ply the expanse, only a handfull have succeeded (amongst them the USS Avenger under Ambassador Worf's command).

On the Klingon side of the expanse, the Da'Ka corridor is the only known stable entrance for ships to enter or leave Ikolis from that side, making it a vital strategic objective for any force wishing to do so. During the Dominion War, Martok deduced that any Dominion assault would likely involve a strike through Da'Ka, and so set up a cluster of disruptor turrets as an early warning system. Left behined after the war, an unknown faction appears to have sabotaged the turrets' IFF system, meaning even Klingons cannot approach the corridor unscathed.

If your fleet does enter this system, remember but this motto; "Control the corridor, control the sector"

The backstory for this one was actually inspired by some SP ideas i've been having for FO, in which the Ikolis expanse mentioned in A1 plays a big role. The map's split into two sections, joined by the Da'Ka corridor itself. The idea is for 2v2 (two outside Ikolis, two inside), with the players having to take and hold the corridor in order to take the battle to one another. Though there are turrets within the corridor to ward off rush attacks, they're not very strong; a determined attack could still run the guntlet, so don't rely on them to hold your foe off for long.

You will instantly notice that this is not symetrical like most maps, and the moons are are in very different positions for each player. I've tried to make it as balanced as possible, with an equal ammount of resources for each player, but a map like this is new for me, so do let me know if you think its unbalanced in any way. Also, the AI can act a little wierd when it comes to getting to the bottom middle lot of moons (ringed by the red nebulas). If you order your ships into the passage through the nebula and then click to the moons they'll travel there corrctly. No idea why this is the case (if anyone wants to try and fix it feel free).

So yeah, enjoy people Azn

Finally got around to remaking it:

Supernova - 2 Players

Under the gaze of a burning star...two fleets will clash...

I designed this for tornament play, and should offer veterans good oppitunities to pull off some neat strategies. It's a simple layout; two bases (bottom left, top right), and a host of map objects for you to exploit. Plentiful resources too; though some of your moons are near the perimiter of your base area, so you'll need to protect them.

Some good shots there Cola; glad you like the map.

Speaking of which:

Bridges - 4 Players

Take and hold the bridges for a quick victory, or go for a swim...

Another simple multi map with a new take on the "nebula wall" idea. You can use the wormhole "bridges" along the asteroid walls to cross to the other side, but if you and your foe find yourselves in a stalemate, your ships can play submarine and go through the nebula wall itself using the other series of wormholes (there's even some moons in there for especially ambitious players).

Go on...send a battleship/dreadnought into the wall and call it jaws...you know you want to... Azn

Duuuuun Dun...Duuuuun Dun...
