supplies are needed to build ships (they are things such as tricorders) and you start with a set amount of them and you can only get more by spending huge amounts of dilithium and tritanium

About a new feature, how about Warp Drive?

Instead of a horribly abused and unstrategic Warp Drive in A2- Standard- here is my proprosed-

25 pts special energy to start
Once warping, you may only travel in a straight line. Maybe 5 or even 10 pts energy\sec.

Ships coming out of warp need 1 or 2 secs to regain shields and weapons

Shields and weapons are disabled during warp

If a ships engines are disabled during warp the ship blows immidiatley.

Ships may not warp through nebula

These restrictions should balance it out more. In Armada 2 it really ruined the strategy so I truly hope this would not do the same. Comments please.

That is a Big No No tempest

the FO team believes taht one map is a sector rather then a big piece of the galaxy and in the trek universe you can't use warp inside a sector. the only warp that is used is by the feds by using the command center, they warp in the galaxy and steamrunners.

It's like in that ds9 episode where bashir is a changeling, warping within a starsystem is deadly

not only that, if your ships eingins blow if they are disables in warp, you just have sovies with a high special weapon antaomy blowing all warp ships up that go past.

ahhh the carnage
but seriously perhaps an option to turn warp on/off like on stock A2. i find it highly frustrating that the movement speed is so low. the fed sovie is their fastest ship so surely that should have hyperimpulse not the saber huh also the cube mabe huge but its at least equal to the galaxy class. i like tempest's idea sounds cool albeit a little complicated.   cool

ok but a single base would take up a sector let alone 4 bases so suerly a little flexability wouldn't go amiss   Tongue

I did not know it was dangerous in-sector. I knew earlier drives damaged subspace from repeated use, yet...

Well, What if only large ships got the warp drive? What if it was a refit for any ship (say 200 di 200 tri).

And Eufnoc, that wound be why you wouldn't warp into a base with lots of sovies... hell, any heavily defended base.

he meant the sovie special weapon would just destroy an entire fleet of warping ships as the distortion disables the engines and you said that a ship would be destroyed if engines are disabled while at warp
