Hey all

I'm trying to install fleetops on my new linux box using cedega (winex) for emulation.  The fo setup prog freezes at a splash screen of 2 galaxies firing it looks like.

Is there some way to install fo without this exe?  Or, what kind of program is it.  Does it require flash..etc.

Thanks for your help

ok I was abled to install the game by removing the "managed" function (adds window borders).

Now i can't make the game run.  This launcher program is too complicated.

The transgaming wiki also states that a2 requires a nocd to run in emulation mode on linux.  I own the game, but is there a way I can patch fo?

I was able to emulate Armada 2 with Cedega 4.3. on my Suse 9.2. Linux...Main menu was flickering but ingame speed and graphics was very good. But i needed to "patch" with nocd exe. Same problem occured when tried to install Fo.

rename the armada2.exe nocd patch to armada2.tgt and drop it into the fleet ops folder, after backing up the Armada2.tgt file of course.

thx for the tgt tip.  I still can't make it run though.  FO uses 1.1 right?

And do you have any suggestions for the config I should use?

Well, not to condone piracy, but everyone here suggests armada.tgt is the file to replace.

Sfera, could you attach your point2play config for fo?

You don't need to crack fleetops.exe, i think that armada2.exe which was renamed as armada.tgt, for fo purposes, should be cracked.
And Psycho i don't have any config file for fo because i didn't made it to work, only Armada2.

Well this sucks, I still can't figure this out.  Sometimes I wish I didn't get rid of windows as now I spend most my time fixing things.  Don't get me wrong, linux is great, its just soo technical.

Anyways, maybe we can think of some solutions.  The problem is obviously with the external prog FO uses to modify A2, as the original game runs fine in cedega.  The window calls another window and I think thats where it breaks.  The first window can't see the second.  I wonder if there is a way to just run the game directly..
