So I am playing romulans and have ships cloaked a bit outside my base. A small borg fleet of a few speres a cube and some assimilators are marching up towards my base.
Now my newly acquired intelligence center and cloak generator are right on their path and unprotected (I know, but my fleets were not that far off) So I decide to halt their march before they can do anything, I destroy the cube with the warpcore overload and wait for the rest of the fleet to come near my cloaked fleet of 4 warbirds and 2 norexans. Then I hit the cloak generator and attack cloaked, yet somehow they managed to see me, they took out a noxeran and a warbird rather fast. Then all of the sudden a cube pops up (must've missed it coming) The weird thing is that my cloaked ships can be targetted but I don't see any detectors around (do they even have a tachyon grid detection?) so I had to decloak them, I used another warpcore overload on the cube that came to the fight and then even more borg ships made it to the battle, some spheres and assimilators, my fleet was starting to lose the battle. I retreated my fleet and sent in the cavalry, 7 Leahvals (number 8 was still in production) At this time I had lost another warbird and at my base I lost another norexan, though the borg had sufferred too, their fleet was reduced to only 2 spheres lingering near my base. But my scouts further away showed more borg ships present. So I decided to take my cavalry and take out these 2 spheres before the next battle though the borg already had a sphere and yet another cube coming to reinforce them, I managed to take both spheres out before they got there and then cut away at the cube with the powerfull beam weapons on my leahvals they pack a great punch in numbers and they can shoot a few times before running out of energy so the cube and sphere were soon dealt with.
Sadly the story ends there as I had to go, right before I saved I saw 3 more cubes coming my way though. I better get my defenses running.
By the way is it normal the enemy can see you and shoot you when the cloak generator is on? That was rather a weird moment.

edit
Forgot what I was going to ask, is it better to have the intelligence center and cloak generator or is it better to have one of these facilities and that powerfull battleship?

To answer your question, I perfer an intel center and 2 Tavara class ships. When fighting a comp your prolly better off just using 3 Tavaras because they don't play by the rules. They can make resources when they arn't even mining, so targeting their con ships or freighters is worthless. I just perfer to get the most out of fleet battles when it comes to AIs.

About that. It's weird but true - they can see you. I don't know if it is a bug in game or shoud be that way. In this version the only advantage of cloak generator is that you can fire first round very fast and then decloak
