It's a fact that the B5 plot is not understandable without seeing most of the series.

There are many little story hints from the first season on, which don't seem to be important and sometimes don't seem to make sense.

But in the end, when you get to know the whole story, those tiny bits show you that it wasn't made up later, but planned from the first episode on.  (Which is quite different in Star Trek. Although DS9 tried to do something similar, there were no such crossconnections. The plot clearly developed episode by episode.)

JMS created a general storyline which was supposed to span 5 years. All episodes were written around it (most by JMS himself) and thus everything made sense in the end.

It's if they were filming a already released novel in tiny bits.

that is the jump gate, that is how the ships jump between star systems. It works by forming a tear in subspace or what they call 'hyperspace' and ships navigate through hyper space and appear through another jump gate in a star system. They only have conventional thrusters. Mimbari and Vorlon ships can make thier own jumgates.
And Td roach B5 is the kind of series that all episodes are interconnected if you see them sporadicly they will make no sense.
Buy the asian imports of B5 on amazon they are very cheap compared to the american version and have all the same content, are completely in english.
If you like Science fiction at all you will like B5! Cheesy

Hyperspace in B5 is totaly different and is nothing like it is in star wars.
In hyperspace in B5, there are very many dangers. There are eddies and currents that can throw a ship of course and send realing into hyperspace to never be heard from again.
Scanners only work in very limited length.
Hidden ancient horrors and races of unimagineable power!

Are you guys all familiar with Starwreck (www.starwreck.com)? The next one coming out will be an ST vs. Babylon 5, looks pretty awesome, except I don't know how they're going to cheat to give the B5 ships a snowballs chance in hades of even scratching ships with tritanium hulls and terawatt-class shields. But whatever : )

I've seen some of B5 in the past.  It's just too bad that they don't have artificial gravity on such a large basis.

I have always admired B5 for their hard work to stick toward Sc-fi Realism (oh and don't star a thread that says B5 vs. Star Trek on their home page, like the B5 homepage, anyway I was like the only star trek fan their and tried to get help on the star trek.com chat they don't help anyway...) Yes I really loved the idea of the white stars, and their concepts on gravity were genius and made more sence than some ST tech (although I promise I shall never diss my own religion LOL )
