I've heard that they maybe wont make a new star trek movie because star trek in the US starts to be less and less popular :omg:

is this true?

Sounds likely. There's a pretty good following among trekkies for TNG reruns on cable, but the last decade of antenna TV has just been Voyager and that crap they call "Enterprise." So there aren't really any new fans.

a idea at paramant is to supind star trek for 1 - 2 sesons wile doing movies and lots of advertinging to bring back intrest.

i and lot of old cast mimbers from the oreganl star trek think it shood be 2-4 yeres.  its hapind be for with origanly star trek. thay supined it and than brot it back and it was populer agin.

That may be a good idea - let the concept rest for a few years and then try something new. And I mean NEW. No reused crew members, a new ship, a new setting timewise, hell, maybe an entirely new universe if it helps.

But I think nothing can save Star Trek right now, unless they get some other thinker like Roddenberry in there. If that story about J.M. Straczinky planning an own ST series were true, I'd be more optimistic. Right now, the ST stuff is pretty much in a dead end.

well but Star Trek is one of the few topics which can adress people all over the world - besides starwars and lord of the rings Wink. Star Trek has a big community, and there are people who like Enterprise..
If Paramount would have decided to let Star Trek die they wouldn't work on their community so hard (new websites, getting a new Star Trek Game development running after the problems with Activision, a new series..) so i think there will be a new movie. I would guess that they already started writing it, cause a good movie would be exactly what Star Trek needs at the moment.

Well i always enjoyed the Original Movies, mainly the wrath of Khan and The undiscovered country, But of the recent Movies i only enjoyed First Contact and Nemesis (especially the battle sections of Nemesis) Generations was ok, but i did not like insurrection at all (after first contact i expect greater things from Star Trek movies but this was a step Backwards).  A really good movie would be great but i fear it will be like Nemesis and not bring enough people in to see it.

I was thinking along the same lines to myself last night, either a massive leap into the future or a parallel universe, if your all familiar with the game star trek shattered universe (never played it myself though) it has a story in which the federation are the evil empire trying to control the universe and the klingons etc are the small factions trying to stop them, star trek as it is on TV is getting slightly boring so I think a drastic change in setting is needed.

all the evenly numbered movies are better than the others,

ie. first contact (6) rocks, generations (7) sucks

Interesting theory, although it doesn't look good for the next film though (if it happens) if you look at it like that - Wrath of Khan (2)-The voyage Home (4)-The undiscovered Country (6)-First Contact (Cool-Nemesis (10)

well I think the theory actualy is correct, motion picture sucks, search for spock blegh, finally frontier yuck, generations (must be the worst star trek movie ever), insurrection (is ok)

but that doesn't look good for the next movie indeed, perhaps time to break the tradition  Cheesy
