OK this may have been said before shoot could be in V3. but i got to page 4 before i got tired of reading. lol
its about warp, like A2 warp. i have herd a few complants about it not having it.but then of course who wants to get there base attacked buy a ton of warped in ships, or defences made usless. i hate it..so here is my idea, why not make the statoins have the same qualitys at A2 planets. maby only some of them, like constructoin statoins. that way your base would be safe and you could move around the map fast.

no i don think so. lol now im lost, maby i did not make sence, i mean to say that my idea is to have A2 warp back in the game but make stations have the properties that A2 plaets have, disableing warp. that way you dont have people warping in to your base and busting you.

i understand what you mean. making the stations having something like a warp disruptor field around so that vessels cannot go to warp in it's radius to prevent warp rushing like planets in a2 do.
Thats a good idea, but there are another reasons we have no warp in fleet operations
  • it just look ugly when ships are in warp (atleasr in a2 Wink)
  • ships get stuck sometimes in a asteroid field trying to to pass it by when warping which also look ugly more than warp itself
  • weren't we all happier in a1 when there was no warp? we even didn't thought about it
  • maps in fleet operations are a smaller in a special matter than in a2
That are just my thoughts Smiley

Me 2, and it's also very realistic, and gives more strategic elements.

I think I mentioned this before:

Taking into account the size of the maps, we already have warp in Fleet Operations.

Armada II is not real scale. The ships are too big in relation to the map, to the buildings and to the battles themselves. So you have to think the vessels as traveling with warp everytime they go through the map. They actually travel much faster than it looks, as the ships are more or less enlarged symbols for the real vessels.

Only if the maps would be 10 times bigger, warp would make sense. Or if all vessels would be scaled down. It simply doesn't match how it is in the Star Trek universe, if you go that fast over that short distances (from base to base).

And after all, it's a tactical simulation in a 2d plain as it is now, so accuracy in scale and speed has to stand down after logical elements of playability. It takes some time to get from one corner of a sector to another. If the maps don't look like whole sectors: Simulation. If the ships don't look as if they were going at warp: Simulation. That's it.

Or have you ever seen a tower walking over a checkered field in real life war?

Warp would be nice but too many reasons why it shouldn't be implemented, of course it's not like changing map size would be too difficult.

it's one of our basic ideas to have smaller clearer maps and therefore no warp

Some maps are too small for warp I agree, but most FO maps are pretty cramped anywho. SO warp would be useless in FO

don't forget the most important part why warp isn't it and that's because it armada 2 is not capable to have modded "believable warp" cause ships (as far as i know) aren't even capable to turn around while warping. but that of course in armada 2 is handled quite different. also ships look crap while warping and spinning around
