I know that this has been asked, but who don't u use the "hyper impulse" drive as warp, just rename is and adjust speeds for different ships, and it dosn't have to be too fast, just a notible and stratigic differnet between it and normal impulse speed....

and what would be the strategic disadvantage of being in hyper impulse? there should be slow and large vessels, and therefore only the saber and te monsoon have hyper impulse, making them a strategic special

Exactly. There is really no use for impulse in A2 unless your engines are damaged and warp is disabled.
