They don't have personal shields, they don't have armor, and they run around in brightly colored cloth uniforms. Does it make any dang sense? No, it's just poor costume design and writing that follows the usual 1 hit kills unimportant characters or characters that are meant to die quick. Important characters can take dozens of shots without going down. Some are just plain phaser resistant. Why do they need armor when they have plot supersheilds
