My PIII regularly runs 12 hours almost every day. And I think I have under 300W. Cheesy I did this for about 3 years now. No problems.

I had AMd Athlon 850 with 350W. After 2 years i saw some instability in power supply like one of hard disk would randomly power off itself. Later I bought Tv Tuner, and when I started recording I would get some heavy noise in recorded signal. Finaly I discovered that my power supply is not functioning well because i realy exausted it.

Now I have AMD Xp 2500+ and 500W power. Everything is without problem.

I advise more power then realy needed (that your PC actualy uses about 70% of maximum power) because if you realy need all 100% of maximum power the power supply unit will eventualy break.
