Man i just played a game on the map midway i was on top and the borg was on bottom(ai hard) this is my favorite map anyways i started out by building 3 sabers and i tryed to make a quick hit and run on there mining facilities as soon as the borg got turrets my sabers were dead so i had to retreat and as you know i was low on resources i only had 2 moons at the time 1 of each resource as i expanded to the dilthium moon to the left of my base my dilithium started coming in but while i was desperately trying to get resources the borg too advantage of my weakness this is when they started making attack runs on my resources and my forces were very thin at the time i had nothing to defend i had to rely on sabers and monsoons also ventures to defend my supply stations when i had put an end to the borg attacks i bought myself enough time to get 4 more moons 2 of each resources in the two little sections my base was in between after i got a steadly flow of resources i was already 3/4 teched up and i had 4 yards two reg and two adv. and i had them pumpin out ships and i made up 3 fleets one to guard the entrance to my base, the 2nd and 3rd fleets guarded my resources facilites that were located away from my base as soon as i had 2 outposts a space dock and 3 fleets and i took the 3 fleets re-grouped them at the entrance to the borg base. This is when the final battle began and let me tell u it was a long and great one the borg had many ships and kept pumping out cubes and spheres and assims and what not (ocassionally stopping because of crew shortage) this battle must have took 10 minutes to fight i had to keep sending reinforcements in to help my orginal forces which were being crushed i knocked out the borg assembly matrixs first which cut off production then i knocked out turrets and then his base and i then spread to finish off his resources but this was all done in about 20 minutes it was a great game best i've had and id like to compliment the devolopers of fleet ops for making such a realistic game the AI are so hard and are very realistic i love keep up the good work and i can't wait to see beta 3 which i know will be a great hit sorry i forgot to save my admirals log i was too excited to come share my battle report again compliments to fleet ops dev.

That were some pretty damn ineffective fleets if u ask me, 3 of them couldnt destroy 1 borg base. But it only matters u had a good time Cheesy

Depends on what they consisted of, a little of everything is good but you can't just make a bunch of small picket ships.

first off i was fed which i forgot to mention, second i didn't defeat the base with just 3 fleets like i mentioned i had to keep sending ships from my base in like groups of 5-10 to help my orginal 3 fleets which had been nearly destroyed, kill the base. I had destroyed his turrets and assembly matrixs so he couldn't build anymore cubes or other ships to destroy me and then i just had to defeat his assim matrix with like 12 ships i lost most of my attacking ships. But yes i never would have had as fun of a time in the reg. armada 2 the AI are actually a challenge in Fleet Ops oh yes and my fleets consisted of sabers all the way up to sovs and galaxys and they were full fleets not like 3 ship fleets i had a fleet of venture with my attackers to absorb fire from stations and maybe get extra damage but they didn't lol sabers kinda played same role as venture to absorb fire and try to do extra damage but from the monsoon class up they were all offensive fleets

when i play with the federation i use the intrepid and excelsiorII the most, some sovereigns and that fat shipclass with them 2 quantumtorps from the starport, i forgot the name of that class, and if i try a run on the stations, i include a fleet of steamrunners cause of their massive tricobalt torps or how they called, which are useful against the cubes too, if they get a chance to hit.. Cheesy

I never use intrepids they just die to quickly compared to the damage they deal.

but a fleet of them with their special weapon can hit down a cube in a first attackwave and with their phaserbanks their can keep them the lil ships of the enemy busy enough that the excelsiorclass ships can contrate their fire on the stations and turrets and stuff like that.. cause of their abiltity that they rarely get hit by torps its good in a fleet against most attacks...

The intrepid is a useful little ship and i to also make good use of the excellsior 2's at first i just build a mixture of remore class and excellsior 2's until i get enough resources then i just build excelssior 2's

I make a little of everything when i'm feds. My main force consists of (and my estimating) 12 Sabers, 8 Monsoons, 8 Intrepids, 12 Akiras (can shoot Klingon def plat missiles with point defense), 8 Canaverals, 8 Rmore or whatever, 12 Excelsior IIs, 6 Defiants and 8 Soverns.

I try to keep it balanced and resemble what a Federation strike force would look like. If I had some Mirandas and regular Excelsiors I think it would look better but using this force I can kill pretty much any fortification.

As fed I found what works is out of a posible 16 per fleet:
2x Newton Class
2x Canaveral Class
4x Akira Class
8x Excelsior-II Class

Dilithium: 8690
Tritainium: 3890
Crew: 2280
*Total resources*
As long as you keep the dilithium flowin this fleet will pwn given the chance.

dont forget the ships from the starport... steamrunner, _very_ useful against stations and big ships... and the other big ship... useful against everthing, specially in a fleet of some ex2, some sovs and a intrepid/ akira mix Wink
