i dont think that this whole thing would make the game "more trek-realistic" or "trek-like" how ever u wanna call it.. cause the ships are turning around in half a second, so there wont be any improvement or change of playin.... just think b4 u type...
But they shouldnt move in half a second, If you played Bridge Commander, you will know that, the Vorcha, Galaxies move sooo sloppily and thats how it should bel ike in Armada 2

yea thats wha i mean... watch the ships movement ingame and in the movies... arc restriction wont make any sense if they jus can fire to the front or backwards when the ships move an change position in 0,5-seconds... u know what i mean... it wont change anything... it would be just eyecandy... not any gameplay differences..

ya it wouldn't make that much difference in the gameplay and take up uneccesary space that could be used for other gameplay features

we? You sound like your a modder.

Anywho,
if you guys are forgetting, almost every vessel has torpedoes in the st universe..

btw
if you were to set photon torpedoes to rear of a sovereign (change the hp numbers), when its being followed by a ship, it can photon torpedo it from behind.

Now ships should have slower physics like in origional A2 but even slower the larger they are or else this weapons arc thing is useless.

Secondly it would be neat.

Yes I know you can put multible types of torpedos and stuff on and give them arcs with just some odf changes meaning that part can be done.

I was thinking about this before, with a lot of work it might even be possible to mount phasers of different strengths on a ship, each able to fire only in a specific arc. The Galaxy, for example, would fire the most powerful beams from its saucer, and less powerful ones from the nacelle pylons, the lower main hull, etc.

Yeah I suppose thats true too although I think every Phaser on the ship is the same power but just a smaller Phaser strip means it has less of an arc, no less power.

to be honest, i don't see a real strategic value in such specific fire arcs. cause the vessels do always change their facing towards their current target and they onl shoot on that target.
it would add more trekky stuff to the game, that's sure, but it would also ned quite a lot of time Smiley but maybe for a later version?

Well for one if ships take longer turns theres where Federation ships have an advantage. Also when ships get attacked from the side when their already moving forward they won't turn around.

So far, Fleet Operations has proven to have more strategic values than Star Trek values, it almost seems like a fantasy game with certain similarities with Star Trek, and as I have pointed that out during the past 8 months, thats a minor setback of Fleet Ops, well, thats just my opinion of course Smiley

Here comes the anti ballence speach in favor of canonism again.

Ballance is more important that canonism when it realy comes down to wich wil take presidense we cant have one race unbeatable becuse it is in the show.

And why does this destroy the balance???

Federation and borg have all around arc but the klingons and the romulans have most of their power concentrated in the front but a federation ship cant hope to match a klingon ship if they are shooting each other from forward wepons, so the feds do get an advantage in a way they cant really be flanked but they are in trouble if they engage a klingon ship from the wrong side Smiley
