Title: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on January 31, 2010, 12:20:01 PM Im getting a eoutofmemory error when i try and boot up FO, i did a clean install before, and ran fine the first time, but when i left and entered again it came up with the same error.
Im using 3.1.1 (http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/1002/bugqt.png) (http://img9.imageshack.us/i/bugqt.png/) If anyone can help it would be appreciated, i know 3.0 through 3.0.7 also had this error for quite a few people. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Adm. Zaxxon on January 31, 2010, 03:50:46 PM well if there was no editing to the game, I would suggest it hast to do with your ram
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Myles on January 31, 2010, 04:29:46 PM he has more than enough ram, if it continues to be problematic, run a memory tester. to see if one of your modules is defective.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Adm. Zaxxon on January 31, 2010, 04:34:00 PM yeah, I just figured ram would be the first problem, but most people have enough.
You might jus t try to do a complete shut down on your system, then re start it. That would always fix my XP problems. :sweatdrop: Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Dominus_Noctis on January 31, 2010, 04:35:52 PM Sorry to be another cook in the kitchen, but I'd suggest a reinstall of FO - I assume you didn't install FO in the same folder as AII?
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on January 31, 2010, 05:23:12 PM I dont have AII installed, i just used my cd to install FO.
A restart didnt help. As i said, i installed FO, booted it, it got an error, i uninstalled both AII and FO, installed FO again without AII, tried it, it worked, i played a game, i quit, i booted it up again and i got the same error as i got before the reinstall. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Dominus_Noctis on January 31, 2010, 05:25:53 PM Hmm, sorry to hear that... I seem to recall this error happening before - perhaps running a search for it in the forums might bring you some luck :sweatdrop:
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on January 31, 2010, 05:26:57 PM I tried a search before i posted the topic, i found 3 other topics reporting the same error, but they were all back in 2008, and none of them found a solution.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Dominus_Noctis on January 31, 2010, 05:27:32 PM I guess just wait for Doca then to find the topic :)
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Adm. Zaxxon on January 31, 2010, 05:28:30 PM thats very strange :(
I've never experienced anything like this before, so I really can't help. sorry :'( Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on January 31, 2010, 05:30:17 PM lol yeah i might as well sit tight and wait.
Thanks for trying anyway guys. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Myles on January 31, 2010, 06:40:13 PM have u tested your memory to see if its ok?
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 01, 2010, 12:04:56 AM I dont know how.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 01, 2010, 02:26:56 PM is it possible to send me the full error report please (to the regular address)? thank you
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 01, 2010, 02:46:21 PM Whats the regular address? I sent it to docacola@fl33tops.net, i changed it to 3's incase theres like spambots that read emails on here. >.>
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 01, 2010, 02:55:56 PM bugs@ etc is the usual address, but this one is fine too :) just got your report. i will see if i can find anything that may help
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 01, 2010, 03:15:29 PM Ok thanks a lot.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 01, 2010, 03:19:39 PM i may have traced the problem back to our exception component. i have a version uploaded where it is disabled. could you please try it?
http://fleetops.masters-lan.info/debug/fodevJenraux.exe this is an installer. just tell me if it works or still crashes for you. note: if it crashes then instead of our exception box, the one from windows should come up. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 01, 2010, 03:21:50 PM I received a windows error now:
Application Error Exception EOutOfMemory in module FleetOpsHook.dll at 00005185. Also afterwards it tried to boot up the original AII, but that crashed on a blackscreen saying an unexpected error has occured. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 01, 2010, 03:26:59 PM ok, so it was not the exception engine. i guess i will have to ask the developer of the 3rd party component why the crash occurs
edit: ok, forget it, it seems to be something else anyway Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 01, 2010, 03:42:11 PM i have uploaded a new version, could you please try it?
http://fleetops.masters-lan.info/debug/fodevJenraux2.exe Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 01, 2010, 03:46:14 PM Same error again :/.
These threads all reported the same error, but they were back in 2008 - early 2009. Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - FO3 - Crash at startup (http://www.fleetops.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,3/topic,4235.0/) Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - 3.0 Launch Error (http://www.fleetops.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,3/topic,4119.0/) Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Start Up Error (http://www.fleetops.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,3/topic,5536.0/) Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 01, 2010, 03:48:39 PM same memory address? Exception EOutOfMemory in module FleetOpsHook.dll at 00005185.?
yes, i know that this issue is not a new one, but it's never to late to try to find a fix ;) Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 01, 2010, 03:50:39 PM Yes the error was exactly the same as with the original installer.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 01, 2010, 04:00:08 PM ok, this gave me some directions. i will continue work on this problem later, i have got to go now. thanks for your help so far.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 01, 2010, 04:02:32 PM Thanks for trying to help :)
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 01, 2010, 06:10:09 PM ok, another try. :)
http://fleetops.masters-lan.info/debug/fodevJenraux3.exe Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 01, 2010, 07:11:39 PM Windows error:
Exception Eoutofmemory in module fleetopshook.dll at 00004EE5. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 04, 2010, 11:24:14 AM Can anyone help me out here? :(
Im desperate, so here goes another reinstall :P Meh, i tried a reinstall, and it didnt even work the first time this time. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 08, 2010, 12:05:18 PM i have further tried to investigate your problem, but didn't came up with a solution. it seems like just what it says, for some reason fleet operations can not register memory on your system. it may be related some kind of software you are running in parallel, but i couldn't find anything unusual on your processes list. maybe it helps if you temporary create a brand new user account on your computer and try to run it from there. just an idea to see if it is anything related to user settings.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 08, 2010, 03:59:05 PM I tried running it with a new user account, but i got the same error as before. I guess i'll just have to leave it and try it periodically to see if it works. :P
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: [EXC] 1337_64M3R on February 08, 2010, 05:24:35 PM ...... have you thought maybe there is something with the RAM driver that isn't liking the game? Or maybe FO can't read the driver correctly? Have you thought of that?
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on February 08, 2010, 05:42:37 PM Well that means nothing to me :P.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: [EXC] 1337_64M3R on February 08, 2010, 05:46:24 PM A driver is a set of files saying "This is how it works:0123456789"
I'm simply asking if FO could be reading it wrong or maybe does not like the driver. Because it could be reading it as "9876543210:This is how it works", or some other screwed up order. Because if it reads it wrong than it could misinterpret the memory as some smaller RAM card. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: DOCa Cola on February 11, 2010, 10:12:54 AM there is not something like a driver to access memory. i am sure it has to do with system configuration, nothing hardware related. i just don't know what you could do to fix it. i guess a newly installed windows would not have this issue - that is of course nothing i expect from you to do. thanks for trying with the new user account.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on March 02, 2010, 08:27:30 PM Sorry if people are getting annoyed with me persisting with this, but anyone else have any ideas they could throw out here? :)
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Wundai on March 10, 2010, 07:21:34 PM Well you could try what I did in the other thread, that seemed to incidentlly solve the problem.
Go to windows/system32 and move the uxtheme.dll file to your desktop. After starting Fleetops put the uxtheme.dll file back in system32 and try to play the game. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on April 02, 2010, 12:42:59 PM Well that didnt help at all :/.
Windows prevents you from moving/deleting it, as soon as i removed it, windows automatically created another copy, so i tried again, and now i have 2 uxthemes, one on desktop and one in system32, and i cant move either of them. :( Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Dircome on April 02, 2010, 04:37:01 PM i tend to leave all files in system32 alone changing them tends to mess up your system.

sorry for the huge size, right click and select view image (if view image isnt there, switch to firefox, then it will be) Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Wundai on April 10, 2010, 07:14:10 PM Wow super long post, No Spoilers present? ;)
Btw it really does work for me, the uxtheme.dll thing, I was not making it up if the poster before me implies that, in any way, using windows XP Professional and it does not make a copy of the file here, I can simply put it on desktop. Sorry it doesn't work for you. Wundai Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Myles on April 10, 2010, 08:15:20 PM i wasnt implying anything about the problem ^-^, i was completely off topic :whistling:, dircome mentioned leaving system32 alone and i remember the incident described in the image i posted. and what do u mean by spoilers? i dont understand
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on April 10, 2010, 10:08:43 PM Mmmm im using windows XP pro SP3, and it just remakes the file when i remove it, i've noticed all windows XP computers do this. Not sure about Vista or 7.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Dircome on April 10, 2010, 11:23:12 PM Wow that is really mean
haha i about died when they told him to use the magnet Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Myles on April 10, 2010, 11:26:12 PM yup, the moral of the story is never take advice from /b/
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on May 05, 2010, 07:47:44 PM Decided to test an older release, version 3 Preview Release works fine on my PC, so obviously something changed between then and now which stopped it working for me.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Adm. Zaxxon on May 05, 2010, 08:51:25 PM ALOT changed from then until now... :sweatdrop:
         Oh my gosh Myles that was so funny. I'm cracking up!!! That poor guy just deleated his dads harddrive  Good thing we don't treat our trolls that way. :whistling: Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Myles on May 05, 2010, 08:56:49 PM he didnt just delete the data he actually broke the device. it couldn't ever be used again.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on May 05, 2010, 09:32:13 PM Shame we've lost a few version, if i remember there was like 3.0.7 ect. before hand, i know 3.1, 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 don't work, and the one before 3.1 is 3.0 PR. Be hard to track down the problem when theres a whole version in between them.
Just trying 3.1.0 again. Meh :P Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Mort on May 05, 2010, 10:19:25 PM       Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Myles on May 06, 2010, 06:37:25 PM picture too long to fit in a quote haha
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Mort on May 06, 2010, 06:47:05 PM its not too long.... but its quite big so i didnt include did in quote... :D
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on July 15, 2010, 12:35:11 PM 3.1.3 Update.
Error is now: (http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/2325/buglw.png) Seems to have changed off of a outofmemory error into an access violation. Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on July 26, 2010, 06:36:11 PM Anyone got any further insight on this? Im hoping a accessviolation error is easier to fix than an outofmemory error.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Dominus_Noctis on July 26, 2010, 07:10:23 PM Hm, well, hopefully Doca will get back to you soon if you've sent him the error
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on July 26, 2010, 07:28:01 PM Ok sent the error report.
Title: Re: eOutofmemory error Post by: Jenraux on August 02, 2010, 10:18:52 PM Well heard nothing from Doca, so wondering if anyone else has something that could help me? :)
