Title: B2:Map Editor - Problems With Starting
Post by: SisQ on October 14, 2003, 05:21:52 PM
i have to say that i had to diable the FOARIC.exe because other games had not started with it activated ... perhaps you could repair this file that it only affects Armada2 or make the mapeditor independent from this file ... if it is dependent on that ...

ok ...

I have :  WinMe , geforce2 mx/mx400 with newest drivers

MainProblem : When clicking on MAPEDITOR.exe the MAPEDITOR does not start
Instead of this the normal FleetOps Armada GAME is starting!!!
                      (with introvideo and so on)

sndProblem : this /\ COULD be caused because i had to disable the FOSARIC.exe
that starts the FleetOps Launcher instead of the Armada one...
because this file (the Fosaric.exe)makes problems with starting
other games and using the taskbar of windows Me !

Suggestion : it could also be caused by this strange new taskicon you have added to beta2

so i hope this was enough

are you using the latest patch for fleetops.
so you say the "strange new taskbar icon" is there all the time?

foaric or fosaric, which one makes you problems
and what problems does it cause to other games and what problems do you experience with the taskbar?

heh i did not even know there was a new task icon

1st : when i start FleetOps WITH the FOSARIC.exe(that runs in the backround when pressing STRG+ALT+DEL) right before the game switches into its screen there is a taskbar icon of fleetops

2nd : i use the newest patch

3rd: Other games wont start ... a black desktop appears ... then ... nothing ...

add: i will try it again today ive reinstalled windows and all drivers and try it again ...

you start fleetops with fosaric? it's foaric actually, which is a background utitiliy, you can also disable it with the launcher and it has no tray icon.

foaric doesn't influence other games in any way, there are no directx calls included it just waits for the launcher of the original armada.

ok, i located the bug and it will be fixed in the next beta.
if you don't want to wait till then, you can download a patch here
nebulafix.exe (http://www.borgcore.de/optec/nebulafix.exe)

(note: this patch is no offical patch. all of its changes will be included in the next beta. you still can play flops with people who haven't installed this patch)

if you have enabled the autorun function in windows (standard) it usually starts the armada launcher. when foaric is enabled then when iserting the cd the fleetops launcher ist started instead

Hi!
My Map editor also don't start. Even if I add the /edit parameter by myself to a link of the .exe I have the beta2 and WinDoof 2000 with a Geforce 2 GTS I think; a AMD 2200+ and a Asus Board.
I don't think it that your foaric service has something to do with it.

what windows do you have??? WTF is windoof? is that windows? 2000 is like ME isnt it? Do you have an STRG button??? What is it for?

Do you have an anti virus program such as mcafee or Norton??? There might be something n youe system that is interfereing

windoof is windows, ur right on this one, but Win2000 is not WinMe... Win2000 is on WinNT base, Me on 98 base... a lil but important difference ;)

and i dont think that norton hurts the gameplay that much, cause its always runnin in the background even when i start playing all the games i got... :D

But I deactivated a lot of Windows Services
