Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations

When I say "obvious three", I am of course referring to the Enterprise (in all its various renditions), the Defiant and Voyager...

What I'm asking here is, in your opinions, what other Starfleet ships, aside from those three, are particularly famous or notable (and I mean amongst fans, not in universe)? An obvious one would of course be the Reliant (and probably the Excelsior).

My personal favorites, though, are the Excelsior class Hood and the Nebula class Endeavour.

Let's fact it, the former's been all over the Next Generation and the Dominion War in DS9 like a rash... and she was literally right there from the beginning of Star Trek's rebirth with the first episode of the Next Generation (Encounter at Farpoint)... I really love the USS Hood for some reason... and it's nice that she wasn't destroyed during the Dominion War... call me strange, I know, but still.... ^-^

As for the latter, I personally am one of those who ascribes to the notion that she was in fact the one ship that survived the battle of Wolf 359 out of the 40-strong fleet. If I had to coin a nickname for her, it'd be the "unsinkable" (she was at the battle of Sector 001 in First Contact as well, keep in mind). I mean, the only other canon candidate for the ship that survived would be the USS Excalibur, and she was apparently attacking by the Borg while the ship was operating under "night shift" conditions... you can't honestly tell me that a 40-strong fleet waiting for the Borg to arrive would be operating under "night shift" conditions... so... yea... unless another candidate pops up, I'll stick with the Endeavour, thanks... :thumbsup:

I think given the Prometheus's design, function, and intended duties, that ship would go on to get 'famous' status.

Also, had things gone a little different in Star Trek VI, then these vessels would be famous for a while, due to the little mission they were about to go on...

Aside from them, the only examples I can think of are from SFB, which isn't canon.

But those are in the universe. I can't really answer for the fans, it's different for each person. People can have favourites, but they hardly think of them as 'famous'.

Well, can we all agree not to include ships (except possibly hero ships) that have been destroyed?

Why?

The most famous human liner was the RMS Titanic. That was destroyed.
The most famous WWII battleship was the HMS Hood. That was destroyed.

Because some of the famous ones already mentioned, like the Valiant, Cortez, Reliant, Grissom, Saratoga, etc etc, were all destroyed, but are very well known among the fans, so they do surely count.

The Galaxy class Venture was mentioned frequently on DS9. And showed a few times.
