The new patch doesn't modify any stock dll or exe files. That's why we put the new patch up (no collision with A2 EULA and FF rules).

Here is a statement:
Star Trek: Armada 2, Star Trek: Armada 2 Downloads - Patch Project 1.25 on Armada Files (http://armada2.filefront.com/news/Patch_Project_125_on_Armada_Files;37014)

A2 files left the status of Fleet Operations itself as somewhat ambiguous.  Does that mean that you are leaving open the possibility of allowing it back on the site?

If future releases have the same file structure as the patch they will be hosted on Armada2files.

The old releases wont be hosted again, unless they get "fixed".

Well, the  Fleet Operations Team has just accomplished perhaps the greatest feat in Armada 2 modding history, and without doing anything "wrong"- I have faith that they can pull anything off at this point.

Oh, and I noticed I haven't seen any news up on A2 files regarding the Fleet Ops mod proper.  Did you guys put a block on reporting, too?  :(

I must have missed something... how exactly does Fleet Ops break the terms of use (or whatever it's called)?

Supposedly it did not obey this: "New Game Materials shall not contain modifications to any COM, EXE or DLL files or to any other executable Product files". Arrrgh 'tupid rules. I just hope the code becomes free for all...

I would go back and read the forum posts, but essentially from my understanding there has been a lot of jealousy that FO did no share the nice models they made, so people in the community look for ways to strike back.  Some kids who moderate A2files thought that they could claim FO violates the EULA (even though, I think, people at mad doc have sanctioned the work FO does), and so thats what the big feud is about.  Who really cares though... FO is a great mod and the work they do continues the vitality of this game.

Jealousy... I should've known....

Statement by me:

I consider it rude of you to insult the filefront membership disregarding as petty. That we would disallow a mod or it's team on that bases. Personally I hold the deepest respect for the achievements of the fleetops team, and while I myself have been critical of their decision not to share they're work like nearly ever other mod team, it is still their choice. Personally I won't want the fleetops models anyways, there is a certain style of their textures which fits with all the other fleetops graphics but not with most other models around.

Apologies for having to send this message via Ryan. My log-in isn't working properly on here and this is the quickest solution.

Firstly, we're not above the rules. We merely follow them. Apparently some of you are ignorant about what the content of the rules are and that FileFront is a business, not a comradare for modders to get to primarily. Do I endavour, along with the rest of the Armada Files team to make it more of the latter rather than the former? Yup, as much as humanly possible. Sometimes, the former takes perrogative and there is nothing we can do. So, don't be naiive to think we're 'jealous' or 'upset' for some obscure reason as to get rid of FO from the site. You might be shocked to know that half of the staff actually like the mod and played it frequently when it was removed (and still do). I had a fair vote to remove the mod and it went 2-1. If you're so naiive to think we do not try and cover every single corner, then fine, be annoyed with us and me, but note we will ignore your words.

Secondly, my frustration at the blatant slander on here is astonishing. The first post claims we 'relented' to the pressure. No, we reviewed the situation and found it had no liability at stake, but FO PR3 was not. Hence it still being off. If you paid attention to the article I put up detailing the situation, you might have understood it rather than picking words out that you wanted to accept. However, to come on here and be called 'jealous'? This actually pathetic attempt to ruin the site's name, which I hold personally is not founded in any form of evidence and you have NO right to go around slagging off me, the team and the site. Your ignorance is ridiculous.

To those who have bothered to read all that has been said and welcome it with optimism, thank you. The above is clearly not directed at you, merely the selfish attitudes of those who seem intent on causing chaos where chaos is not merited. Perhaps those who are at fault will actually bother to read this and acknowledge...perhaps we'll get an apology, but I'm ever an optimist.

Thank you.

the guys over at armada2files are just doing their job. yes, it sucked that the files were banned from armada2files.com but its over now. the next version of fleet operations will use the same technique as the current patch project and then should also be available on filefront again.
