Title: Game crash at start up Post by: player on October 13, 2007, 09:42:07 AM Hi.
When ever I try to run FleetOps 3PR, I only get as far as the splash before I get this error saying that the program has to quit and there was an error with armada2.tgt I've tried this on another computer too and I get the same message. Both computers run XP and both meet (and exceed ) the game requirements [My system: 2.4 Ghz w/ 1GB ram & 128 Nvidia Geforce 4; all drivers up to date]. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks. Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: DOCa Cola on October 13, 2007, 09:53:48 AM welcome to the forums! :)
could you please attach the error log as file here? Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: nefrance on October 13, 2007, 12:22:48 PM i had this problem before
you just need to reinstall fleetops :D hope i helped you nefrance Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: player on October 14, 2007, 07:00:53 AM @Doc : Here is the error file thing that my computer produced. There was his larger one with binary data and so on, but I could not copy it out of its box and paste it into a word pad. If that is the one you want, could you please explain the steps needed to recover it. Also, I've included a screen shot of the error box before the 'more' part with all the binary and hex
@ nef: I wish it was that easy. I've deinstalled/installed this nth number of times with no success on BOTH computers (Oh, this version of the crash came form my 1.7Ghz/512 RAM computer, the one that I originally played fleetops 2 on without any problems.) Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: DOCa Cola on October 15, 2007, 06:52:40 PM you could try to use the Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Updated beta loader - Vista compatibility (http://www.fleetops.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,3/topic,3204.0/) from here. if the error still occours then, you should get a better error report also.
Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: player on October 15, 2007, 07:59:29 PM Right, that didn't work (But many thankyou for pointing to the link and for the help and attention so far  )
Anyway, I found what seems to be the loggers of crash data that FleetOps makes. I've attached them; the logloader is the more recent one. I hope these were the more advanced error logs you wanted. Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: DOCa Cola on October 29, 2007, 03:13:51 PM sorry for my late reply.
is the error offset still 0025ca48, when the error window comes up? (your unititled.jpg screenshot above) Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: player on November 02, 2007, 08:16:00 PM No prob. :D
As for the offset, for the most part yes...but the in the last test I also got 00001010 as a offset. After that the same 0025ca48 and then a 00001010 again. So it seems to occasionally shift a bit. I don't know why, but it does. ==[edit]== I also came across another post that seemed to suggest the same thing: Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Fleet Ops bug on XP (http://www.fleetops.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,3/topic,3392.0/) So this probably isn't just isolated to me. Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: DOCa Cola on November 02, 2007, 08:20:33 PM ok, i will check that, when i am back home on sunday :)
Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: DOCa Cola on November 03, 2007, 11:58:35 AM just tested it but lead me to nothing yet, it seems to be a crash produced by armada 2 and i haven't yet integrated a2 exception logging in the old v3pr loader code.
does vanilla armada 2 work without problems? it would be good if it is crashing too (atleast for debugging reasons :D) Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: player on November 08, 2007, 01:08:46 PM vanilla armada 2? == the pure game?
I wouldn't know as I don't have it installed. I'm simply running the mod. If it would help, I could run and test it. Title: Re: Game crash at start up Post by: DOCa Cola on November 08, 2007, 01:31:26 PM yea, if possible - that would help alot
then i know where to start looking for
