Title: trouble connecting to games. Post by: MutantHippie on July 09, 2007, 04:25:19 PM When i try and played a multyplayer game through the gamespy network on FO i tried to join and it said "this user has a diffrent version of the game" or something like that, is this because im trying to connect to a Star trek Armada 2 game rather than a FO game?.
I have installed all updates for FO aswell just so you know. Cheers Dan Title: Re: trouble connecting to games. Post by: Jan on July 09, 2007, 04:46:27 PM You are absolutley correct on that. Up to today it's rather hard to find FO players online even if so many people play the game. There are simply too less people that go online regularly. A separate lobby for FO would be nice.
Don't ask me why... maybe it's the balancing which needs much notice to become more attractive for multiplaye games. People haven't accepted FO yet..... yet..^^ One solution is to meet people over msn or icq, best is to join the teamspeak server. there you have the biggest chances to find play mates. Title: Re: trouble connecting to games. Post by: MutantHippie on July 09, 2007, 04:52:22 PM WE SHOULD RALLY TOGETHER AND LOBBY FOR A FO LOBBY!!!!
:borg: :borg: :borg: ALL DRONES TO ME!!! and thanks for the suggestions ;) cheers Dan Title: Re: trouble connecting to games. Post by: The Old Man on July 09, 2007, 05:41:38 PM I hope things change after V3 is released.
The release will push the publicity around FO again and will propably make more people play it online at least for a while. If we get to catch them here or in any other kind of "lobby", we'll have good chances to keep FO alive regarding online-gaming. So let's start a FO-PR-campaign! Title: Re: trouble connecting to games. Post by: Jan on July 09, 2007, 07:28:36 PM let them finish the game first ;)
Title: Problems finding or joining online games Post by: The Old Man on August 08, 2007, 08:00:57 PM So, finally, here's a new one:
Maybe some of you have experienced this issue before and the solution is only a few minutes away. Maybe it isn't. When I try to host an online-game or to join an online-game via the GameSpy-interface in FO, I experience the following problems: 1. While trying to join a game: I can't see the game I want to join. I can only see the other games. Sounds weird and so it is. 2. While trying to host a game: My game remains invisible. The interface notices me that this might be caused by my firewall and the different IP my computer has in my local network. Well, that's because of the router without I wouldn't get online. My firewall (ZoneAlarm) is set to allow outgoing and incoming connections and does not mess up the connectivity. The Windows-Firewall is turned off. I use Windows XP Home with SP2. How can I fix it? Thanks for your support! addition: Every multiplayer-game works with the above described system. Except FO. :crybaby: Title: Re: trouble connecting to games. Post by: MutantHippie on August 08, 2007, 08:02:11 PM the strange thing is with this, is that i joined a game with Lumpy bob and even started to play the game, and yet it doesnt work with NEFrance and Old Man

Title: Re: trouble connecting to games. Post by: The Old Man on August 15, 2007, 09:27:48 AM It seems like I've found the real issue: My installation of FO wasn't a clean one though I thought so. But as I've done a clean reinstall now I suppose it should work again now.
Title: Re: trouble connecting to games. Post by: The Old Man on August 24, 2007, 11:04:05 AM Okay... again:
Fresh installation of V3 PR, Patch 1. OS is WinXP, SP2. I can't connect to online-games and I can't create games. In both cases the games remain invisible to me or the other player(s). :crybaby: Propably it's my router, which I need to get online. But as it works with every other game I don't understand why it doesn't work for FO. :pinch: If someone has too much time, I'd appreciate him/her to post a tutorial about howto be able to enjoy FO online. :woot: Well, thanks a lot! :) Title: Re: trouble connecting to games. Post by: The Old Man on August 30, 2007, 02:18:12 PM If you have a router, is it not just a case of becoming a DMZ Host, or is the problem more complicated than that? I'm not exactly a network expert so forgive my dullness on this one :sweatdrop:. Well, that's exactly my problem. The router doesn't support these options or they have at least not been made available. But I'll play with it, I've got another one around here which could do it. Maybe for the Germans around here (I'm not sure if AVM exports its products. If they do, this one is free for everyone of course ;) Otherwise you can save your time now ;) ): Anyone an idea how to tell the FritzBox to support a DMZ? I thought of a firmware-update but this is not possible unless I make deeper changes to the router which I actually don't want to make. I have a second router here which supports advanced configuration but since I need the FritzBox for phonecalls I'm not really keen on messing around too much unless someone tells me the box will never do it. Maybe anyone of you has got a FritzBox FO works online with? Please let me know! Feel free to PM me of course, too! Thanks a lot!
