Title: System Value?
Post by: Green X Lantern on July 06, 2007, 01:38:24 PM
This has been asked before, and when introducing the game to some of my friends I felt kinda dumbs saying "Yeah, the System Value....hmmm...it's very, very important..."

So, any help with what the System Value is?  I noticed that one of the Generix Class refits bumps up its System Value and relabels it a Support ship.  What value is that?  It seems something of great import...but...I'm not sure....

Help?

No, he means the "system value" which is part of the description of the ships in FO since the PR. But noone seems to know what it is good for  :sweatdrop:

Well, I think I found something while trolling the boards.  I think System value denotes ability to regenerate (maybe amount) of special energy and the speed at which they regenerate shields and hull.  Confirmation from an official source?

The system value is a measure of how cool or awesome the ship is. A high system value indicates high coolness  :whistling:. A low system value is indicative of low coolness. To increase the street cred of one's ship, increase its system value

So if the system value indicates regenerative abilities what exactly does the defensive value describe? Simply how strong shields and hull are?
Though I feel somehow informed now, some official information would be nice.

Yep, you are right :) To quote the v3PR readme:

Added 3 dynamic unit attributes. These attributes describe the capabilities of vessels or stations.
  • Offensive Value
The offensive capabilities of a starship or station. Units with higher offensive values can deal higher amounts of damage or have faster reload times
  • Defensive Value
The defensive capabilities of a starship or station. Units with higher defensive values can sustain higher amounts of damage before getting critically damaged or destroyed
  • System Value
The special system capabilities of a starship or station. Units with higher system values can reload their shields and repair their hulls faster. The system value does also define the special weapon energy recharge rate.

The System Value will change a bit in the final v3 release. Cause very high system values (like they could appear on Borg Ships or high-end support ships) would lead to energy recharge rates of 20 energy per second or more the energy-recharge rate is capped at 10 per second (something only high-end vessels will reach). In exchange the influence on hull repair rates has been increased and the System Value does now improve Special Abilities (either reduces their energy costs or boosts them up, that's dependent on the ability)

Thank you!  Optec, do you have any recommendations for multiplayer cooperative maps, besides Defend and Defend II?
