Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations

Hi out there,
One of the key features that differ between the PR and the final 3.0 release are the Borg. They are currently under heavy development and new vessels, abilities and weapons are tuned for the collective every day. So we decided to give you a small view into the current development and show you how the Borg are progressing.
A quite famous Armada1 Borg design was the Assimilator. A vessel dedicated to the sole purpose of assimilating hostile lifeforms into the collective. The Assimilator will of course have a great comeback in v3, too. The model has just been finished and here is a first rendering. A ingame screenshot will follow as soon as the model was optimized for ingame-display, but the appearance and quality won't change by this.

The Fleet Operations Assimilator will behave similar to the Armada1 Assimilator. But as a support vessel the Assimilator will feature two other abilities besides the Auto-Assimilation-Beam. More about them will be released in future news posts.

Awesome Texture and model!

I love the new look. I always thought the A1 assimilator design looked a bit silly myself, but with that model and texture i love it! Can't wait to see the new Borg, it looks like they're gonna be brill! :borg:

i thought the descent fom 3PR looked good since it was retextured (although i could be mistaken i aint played FO for a whil just getting my PC bck in good shape)

Well its ben in servis thow Bata2 to now the technolagy its desine is basted on is no longer the top of the line. It need a refiting or replament.

Nope, same texture on the Descent.


Also, the FO team basically said that the Descent will be in Fleet Ops until the sun is nothing but a cold black lump of coal in the sky.

So, now that we have the movie "Sunshine" in cinemas where exactly this is the scenario - why can't we pretend the sun is nothing but a cold black lump of coal in the sky?  :whistling:

Even the Descent is fine - after they've found a new model for it, it will even be better. And they will unless I got something wrong a longer time ago.

No, the design of the Assimilator is just fine and as the it does nothing but to assimilate I assume that this would be the design the Borg would choose. After the FO-team's work on it, this would not only be the design, it would propably even look exactly like their model now.  B) (You should send it in as a suggestion ;) )

Thanks for the ingame pic Optec.  The assimilator looks awesome, the combination of razed faces and the detailed texture looks great.

as we are still working on the borgs weapon visuals there are no combat shots available at the moment, but the first should be up soon :) i will post a newspost then :)

Hi there,
I wonder if command cube will be awalaible in V3? If so, I have a great suggestion for it's cutting beam. Can You guys make it slide along the hull of the targetted vessel? It cuuld even start firing aside of the hull itself and then hit the ship and slide throught it. As it would pass along the ship a small pieces of debree could fall apart from the ship  B)
