Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Dominicus Ultimus on February 20, 2007, 08:30:52 AM Hello DU here and this is my first official thread I've made at the FO forums. (so please be gentle :sweatdrop: )
Basically I just wanted to know which battle in all of Star Trek is your favourite or facinates you the most. For me it have to Wolf 359. The Federation which had appeared to many as being the preeminent, dare I say invincible, power in the Trek universe got its *** handed to it by the Borg. 1 Borg cube tore a fleet of 40 Federation starships apart with only one ship surviving the "battle" (I prefer to call it the 'Masscare of Wolf 359), with no damage to the cube itself. Now I know there are a ton of battles to choose from, especially with the whole Dominion War thing, but it can be from any series, episode, or movie you want. Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Rhaz on February 20, 2007, 03:11:44 PM I liked two battles especially:
Battle of the Bassen Rift: Valdores are just gorgeous ships. I got to finally see the Scimitar in action. I also enjoyed the battles of Chintoka Despite them being short and using footage reused later in the series. Wolf 359 was cool too =]. Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Dominicus Ultimus on February 20, 2007, 10:05:12 PM I wish they could make a tv movie about Wolf 359. I mean in TNG we only got to see the wreckage of the Federation fleet afterwards, and in DS9's 'Emissary' we only saw the openning stage of the battle.
A full movie based on the battle would be a dream, but given the fact that the franchise has shown the tendency to go back to the 'roots' of Star Trek it's an unlikely possibility. :unsure: Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Acidpunk on March 07, 2007, 05:00:47 PM hmm fav battles lemme think
well the basin rift as Rhaz said is sexy ;) then ofcourse you have good ol Twok not to mention the Yesterdays enterprise which is interesting umm theres ofcourse always is Sacrifice of Angels but i dunno whats the best hmm we always have the Enterprise epsisode with the Xindi Sphere attacking earth thats a good battle too lots to choose from Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Smoerebroed on March 08, 2007, 02:55:52 PM Kirk vs. General Chan in Star Trek VI
Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Acidpunk on March 08, 2007, 07:05:31 PM ah yeah smoer the prototype bop with the torpedo surgery i like that too :P
how about the battle in the siege of ar558 i know its not Space but it shows you what humans are like Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Smoerebroed on March 08, 2007, 09:25:02 PM oh that one; hmmm that episode was interesting, especially Quark that old scoundrel;
Title: Favourite Battles Post by: |PX|Kern on March 09, 2007, 04:29:44 PM I liked the Battle of Procyon V,even though you get to see very little of it.But out of all the battles to choose from I'd say the Battle for Chin'Toka was the best. That includes both on-screan battles and probably a third.I'd say that Starfleet would definately try and take it again because you can't just leave a large pocket of enemy forces alone so close to your most strategic base.
Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Casper on March 20, 2007, 08:11:49 AM the klingon assault on DS9 was a nice little battle. but i'd have to go with Wolf359.
some of the TNG battles involving cardassians were cool too. Title: Favourite Battles Post by: RedShirt on March 20, 2007, 01:50:52 PM Wolf 359 was cool, I just wished they had shown more of it...
Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Frodo on March 21, 2007, 12:29:14 AM i loved the great battle over antartica where loads of al'kesh and death gliders fought each other while o'neil was going all ancient below the ice and hammond was taking fire from anubis' ship in space. classic battle that was.
Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Smoerebroed on March 21, 2007, 01:31:51 PM Quote i loved the great battle over antartica where loads of al'kesh and death gliders fought each other while o'neil was going all ancient below the ice and hammond was taking fire from anubis' ship in space. classic battle that was. wrong science fiction series; otherwise i would now start dreaming about Babylon5....... and shadow ships and shadow ships and shadow ships and the white star Title: Favourite Battles Post by: RedShirt on March 21, 2007, 04:47:19 PM Man, B5 was an awesome series... I just wish that they still showed it here in the US... :(
Title: Favourite Battles Post by: T-Man on March 21, 2007, 08:13:05 PM Indeed B5 was a cool series. You can get it now on DVD i think.
On topic, one of the best battles for me had to be the late DS9 ones ("Sacrifice of angels" and "what you leave behined"). I know they reused some shots and the sizing got screwed up for the battle of Cardassia with the Dominion Dread's, but they still were some awesome scraps; a fitting end to the series really. Second places would go to Sector 001 at the start of First Contact, the fight with the Scimitar in Nemesis, and definetly the Borg V 8472 fights (though i find those a bit disturbing...*sniff*...all those Borg :lol:) Title: Favourite Battles Post by: RedShirt on March 21, 2007, 10:21:05 PM The Sphere vs Tactical Cube was cool as well.
Title: Favourite Battles Post by: Admiral Adama on March 30, 2007, 12:34:16 AM if were going into other series then Battlestar Galactica has the best
When the 2 battlestars attack the fleet protecting the downloading ship was awesome otherwise its the rift battle with enterprise and scimitar Title: Favourite Battles Post by: RedShirt on March 30, 2007, 04:12:23 AM If we count other series, Babylon 5 had some awesome battles as well.
Title: Re: Favourite Battles Post by: Admiral Adama on April 02, 2007, 02:24:59 AM you cant begin to compare it to bsg's special effects
Title: Re: Favourite Battles Post by: Blueguy on April 02, 2007, 03:00:52 AM True, but that's simply because BSG is more recent. You can't forget that B5 was a pioneer in digital effects...
~a RedShirt in exile Title: Re: Favourite Battles Post by: Admiral Adama on April 02, 2007, 03:02:22 AM still " "
Title: Re: Favourite Battles Post by: RedShirt on April 03, 2007, 01:19:05 AM You can also argue that BSG doesn't have enough battles...
